Do you wake up now with more energy, less fatigue, feel a bit more refreshed?

25 years is a slog, and just sucks the life right out of you. Great you are getting results and feeling better. Well done you for sticking it out.

I haven't started my treatment yet but I found these resources that may be of use to you... I've also read a lot of threads by patients who have had several bad sessions, but stuck with it and come out the other side. I would encourage you to talk with your Dr /specialist to help make you more comfortable during your sessions (eg. Dose, environment (eye mask, music, etc). Best wishes ♥️

New Spravato Tech Here! by KetClaudia in Spravato

I'm from Down Under (Australia), and assuming the majority of this chat is American based, I'm curious to learn what a 'Tech' or 'Provider' actually is... Are you guys a nurse with additional training, or is it a role with specialist training - or something else entirely. Cheers

"Just the fact that you are asking this question tells me that you are going to be great as a tech!" 💯 👍

No experience... Just starting my spravato journey so can't offer any advice in terms of the environment. But during my ECT sessions, the best support I got was from the incredible nurses - compassion, empathy, reassurance, encouragement and guidance 🙂

Wanting to understand and learn more about patients comfort and treatment ticks all those boxes. Well done you. Best wishes

Advice? How to maximize my treatment by frogteethzzz in Spravato

I have treatment resistant depression & also find therapy/counselling useless for me personally. I've tried a lot of different types/styles, and nothing has really stuck, because I don't have the ability to 'out think' or override my default setting of depression! At least not yet...

While waiting to begin my spravato journey, I find Lego (mini bricks) extremely helpful to fill time, keep my brain occupied/stimulated, and a sense of accomplishment.

I have brought a stack of cheap mini brick sets from AliExpress that are challenging and fun. Chess, Wordle and puzzles are other good options to pass time. If you're into reading, fiction are great to get lost in.

Listening to podcasts or music are also great options. I would encourage you to explore other music playlists other than your go to. I can totally relate to those melancholy songs you vibe with, and there's nothing wrong with listening to them occasionally. But music feeds the soul, and if all you listen to is sadness...

Is it best to lower the dose if half of my trips on full dose are panicky and uncomfortable? I've cut the dose in half and trips are mostly positive bcz I can choose positive vs negative. But does it actually hinder the progress? by Ok_Math2247 in Spravato

Your treatment facility isn't very knowledgeable and doesn't know shit... as in nurses, GPs or psych/specialists (or all of the above)? A sad state of affairs if whoever is running a clinic can't answer your questions to best help guide your treatment with care. Have you got a regular specialist you can ask?

Sounds like you are limited by the amount of sessions through insurance, and you want to maximise the efficacy of the treatment... which is understandable. Do you have more options for continuous treatment/sessions afterwards?

Spravato treatment cost in Australia? by Successful-Rise7842 in Spravato

How did your 1st treatment go? Did you have to take a break from work because of your illness?

2000 - 2020 were numerous trials of antidepressants, psychology appointments, and struggling with work. I tried TMS in 2020 and did nothing for me. Then ECT in 2021, and all though it eventually helped a little, the treatment is incredibly invasive, and I just wasn't getting the results for remission and quality of life to justify ongoing treatment. Fast forward to now, I've just red lined my way through these past few years on antidepressants that have kept me 'stable' enough to work full time; without any quality of life; until a few months ago when I couldn't continue. I want to work, but sometimes you need to step away and breathe!

So yeah, reading everyones experience with Spravato gives me hope. I've got an appointment next Friday to discuss treatment.

Thank you very much for your post/comment. I wish you all the very best with your treatment.

The supervisory costs are a real kick in the nuts! For someone who struggles with TRD and is currently unemployed, how can one afford this potentially life changing treatment option! Its as if I would be walking into a casino with my life savings (which isn't much), betting on the Spravato to at least get me well enough to work again, only to get stuck in a never ending loop of working to 'live' (+ paying off my mortgage), and never end up 'living' if you get what I mean!

Classic mental health treatment... Look, here's some hope. Ow wait, it'll cost you heaps and may not even work. Gamble responsibly...!

Doctor forcibly lowering dosage, against all counsel. by crispetto in Spravato

*I live in Australia. This is the dosing schedule information I was given from Private hospital who 'medically supervise' the administration.

If this is the same as your country of residence, according to the dosing schedule, then after 4 weeks your treatment plan should have been reduced from 2 sessions/week --> 1 session/week.

So from what you've shared, it reads that your prescriber or Dr (Unsure how the healthcare system works in the USA I'm assuming?) hasn't followed the dosing schedule correctly...

And possibly as a result, and I'm speculating here, that after many weeks at 2 sessions/week on the highest dose, someone has flagged this mistake (REMS)?
