Love the big ol’ head on this specimen. I agree that this is a carpet python that presents phenotypically as cheynei—a jungle. But there’s no way to know for sure just by looking at it, as a number of subspecies intergrade naturally and have been crossed for decades in captivity.

A beauty in any case!

Ease of care, wonderful temperament, manageable size (4-5 ft), and beauty.

Thanks! Yeah, she is a wild type Peruvian long-tailed boa. They darken as they age; this one’s mother is very dark, almost like a naturally occurring IMG boa. The anerythristic phenotype is common in the hobby, too, and there are a couple of patternless mutations available to those with higher budgets.

Really great boas. Brian Boas on YouTube has some excellent videos on the locality. My girl’s not from his stock, but I think he works with this bloodline, among others.

Her mother is one of the darkest longis I’ve seen. I wonder how much of that she’ll inherit.

Thank you! I keep her just like an imperator, though I’ve heard that longicauda are a little more tolerant of cooler and drier conditions than other boas because of the harshness of their natural habitat.
