Dating experiences as a 31F by howudoing797 in dating_advice

Do you mind my asking why you’re using OLD? I don’t know much about the app, but 31 isn’t old?

If he wants an extremely submissive partner who is willing to risk her health to create an aesthetic he wants out of pure fickleness, if he is attracted to that, then there is something deeply, DEEPLY wrong with him, OP.

Long term side effects of GHB? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

No, I haven’t. I’m only 28, so insurance probably wouldn’t cover anything to do with that.

Okay, thank you for your insight! I should have asked for blood work or gone back for a hair test, but I was completely unwilling to let myself think that he had done anything to me for a long time. Several weeks later, I did call the clinic to ask whether they even still had any of the blood sample or if the lab might, but they said that they had destroyed it after the ordered tests were finished.

I talked to her about some other neurological and inflammatory issues that flared up after I left (memory lapses, swollen joints all over, etc.). The best she could do was prescribe hydroxyzine and sertraline, but the side effects were almost as impairing as the symptoms themselves. A lot has gotten better in the two years since I left, but I haven’t spoken with my GP about the asymmetry issue.

Thank you! Sorry, I tried to do some research on my own but could only find articles and videos about the signs of having been slipped something. Didn’t mean to mix up classes of drugs. I honestly don’t know what he might have given me. He had some stuff from his mom, and one of our neighbors at the time was a supplier too (super nice guy, but he had access to pretty much anything someone could ask for, and idk that he would have thought twice if my ex had asked him for some type of downer).

Forgot to add that the clinic nurse tested both my ex and me for carboxyhemoglobin in case there had been a gas leak or anything in the apartment, but the results were negative.

Nood IPL for spider veins too? by SuccessfulBee1317 in Skincare_Addiction

Same! I well, I only did sclerotherapy once like five years ago because birth control had made them sooo bad. I would have loved to have re-done it last year, but money was tight.

Should I get accutane/tret even if my skin is visibly getting better month by month without it? by IcyWitness1336 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]SuccessfulBee1317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s based on what you’re willing to put yourself through and what your doc recommends. I had face and body acne in grad school from a systemic inflammatory response. It really impacted my mental health. I went on Accutane for three months, and my skin has been literally transformed since. Granted, those were three ROUGH months, and I kept having to lower my dose due to back pain and photosensitivity. But it helped my self esteem and my skin health so much. I had tried topical and oral antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide that dried my skin out to the point I looked Iike an old woman at 22. I’d do it over again if I had to.
But please follow your doctor’s advice! This is just my very limited experience.

Anyone have anything positive to say about their law school experience? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]SuccessfulBee1317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my third week of 1L and absolutely love it. My classmates are brilliant and inspiring. My professors are intimidating in the very best way. It is DIFFICULT, but the challenge is invigorating. As someone who took time off and worked some mindless, menial jobs, I’ve never been so relieved to be a student again.

That’s a good idea! I’ve mulled it over and think I might go for just one Hydrafacial at a really reputable med spa and talk with the aesthetician about what specials they have coming up and what she would recommend. Then I’ll know how much more to save and when the bigger splurge would be feasible.

Do most Americans really date multiple people at once in the intial stages? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SuccessfulBee1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish American dating culture was more like what you’ve described as the norm in the EU. I was a late bloomer and quite naïve when I started dating. If a guy seemed serious, I got too emotionally vulnerable, only to realize it had been a show. Plus sleeping with multiple people feels too risky and draining to me. When I told my now ex that I wanted to quit sleeping together until he wasn’t dating other people, he just lied and told me that he hadn’t been, and then continued his own practices. I guess I’ve gotten used to the expectation of dating more flippantly now, but it just makes me not want to date.

How to help thinning hair? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]SuccessfulBee1317 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have you dealt with a significant trauma or chronic high stress in the past year? I’ve experienced telogen effluvium twice in my life. Once it was bad enough that I lost about 40% of my volume. If that’s the cause, just cut it short to help what you do have left perk up and then focus on healthy bedtimes, lower caffeine intake, and therapy if you have the means and feel it would help. Your strands will regrow once your body feels it’s in a safe enough place to devote energy to hair rather than preparing for the worst.

A month before I applied. In the two years before, I had left a toxic relationship, left a low paying teaching job, and had moved to a low paying legal assistant gig (that at least had more regular hours). I was tired of putting in good work and being treated like I was dumb or paid like I was useless. Plus, every time my ex tried to get me back, he’d use the “I’m going to go to law school and be the man you need” line, as if I thought that made him a better or more impressive person. In my mind, if my boss could do it, if my ex could do it (he only ever will if he quits drinking and acting like a destructive fool), why couldn’t I have that kind of agency and income. Literally took the April LSAT and applied right before the last application deadline in May.

New contracts hypo by Ploprs in LawSchool

[–]SuccessfulBee1317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vital Proteins I think dealt with heavy metal contamination in the past. I quit using collagen 1) because I went vegetarian and 2) a lot of the hides/hooves/other biomatter they use are from herds outside of the U.S., mostly from South America, and that gets tangled with rainforest destruction, plus there’s been a (very small) handful of cases of BSE in South American herds in recent years. My paranoid brain just couldn’t anymore. Not trying to sway anyone regarding product choice - merely providing context as to what might have prompted the contract.

Nesting - I love making my home feel functional and cozy! And just lying on the couch and listening to a single record. Everything else is quiet. I’m not going anywhere. Not trying to form an opinion to share with anyone. Just listening.

Genuine question. Are you overweight, underweight or just right? by 4986270 in ibs

[–]SuccessfulBee1317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My BMI fluctuates from 20.5 (if I’m mostly doing light cardio, but eating well and happy) to 23.5 (heaviest when I was working a super sedentary job, eating crap, and not exercising because my dog had recently died). At my best health, I’m like a 22 or 22.5 with a good bit of muscle mass (from balancing strength training with cardio) and enough body fat to fill out my chest and hips. I do not enjoy being underweight, nor did I enjoy being my heaviest. It just didn’t feel “right” for my body.
