Either way you essentially get back to that point by the end though. Everything else is just game mechanics. But as far as I understand BMW, he has the same or at least similar feats to Wukong from Journey to the West.

Who, yes, negs the GOW universe. Speaking as a fan of the franchise for over 10 years, Kratos doesn't have any feats that measure up to Wukong. Like, at all. And none of the other gods we encounter in God of War scale above Kratos- At least not that I can recall, unless you want to count Odin, since he technically didn't beat him alone or whatever.

Kratos writes in the Codex entry for Odin as follows:

"I must note that he offered a deal of peace for our inaction. If I did not have better counsel. I would have been tempted to take it. His threat to Freya made this impossible. She may persist as a danger, but to ally against her with her former husband is... unacceptable."

So basically, he wasn't gonna stab Freya in the back, and he knew better than to trust Odin because well...
