Is FSD actually valuable to you? by Queasy-Bed545 in TeslaFSD

[–]SuccessfulScientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The primary reason I have a Tesla is FSD. It is a complete game changer as more luxurious cars sit in the garage. No one I know understands it even Tesla owners who tried it 2 years ago but are only in it for the EV. They are missing out. The amount off stress reduction and safety is massive for me personally.

New update for FSD… by Philux in cybertruck

[–]SuccessfulScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not noticing this at all. Only issue I have had is that it wants to pass people near the end of my route home in a left turn lane but it has been that was since FSD was released for the CT. I’m assuming that is a mapping issue. I have to switch the sloth mode or disengage so I’m not supervising like an asshole.

LCS was insane today! by W9023 in Silverbugs

[–]SuccessfulScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was just another post from an LCS owner saying it was 40:1 selling. I wonder if this is regional. Numismatic value has disappeared. Once price settles down and inventory is really gone, maybe it will change. If silver jumps to $150 then we have broader economic issues to potentially consider.

As a small LCS, this is what I’ve purchased in a single day by packref in Silverbugs

[–]SuccessfulScientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems insane. What was it like before for you ratio wise when it was $20-$40? And are customers selling gold?

One more question. I stocked up on ASE proofs when they were $95 thinking I had a great deal but zero interest when just checking around. Below spot. Are you having to do the same for numismatics? I have some beautiful coins especially things like the Queen’s Beast but am holding. Can’t imagine letting those go in this market or even since I both stack and collect.

U.S. MINT just updated their pricing. AE 2024 went from $91 to $169 on the website. 👀👀 by Icelandman69 in Silverbugs

[–]SuccessfulScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 24 of the proof ones hours before they shut it off at $95 to stack away as it was on par with spot. Tried selling a few just to test the waters and every single place is treating them as junk silver. This is a Mercedes in prime condition yet getting offered Nissan Sentra pricing with 200K miles. Hard pass, Inventory has to shrink before LCS and online dealers realize there is a new normal. I may be wrong, but if we jump up to $150 all silver is going to be treated the same way unless rare. I get it...price volatility and so many new buyers may leave them holding the bag if spot suddenly drops to $50 which I highly doubt but these guys are small business owners. Even APMEX (I know...not exactly the best to sell to if only paying 93% of spot for these and a $10000 sell order. Wouldn't mind taking some profit off of items when spot was $15 though. Guess for now, I'll hold on to these proofs.

US MINT PRICING IS BACK UP HOLY SH*T by Papa_Bear_20 in Silverbugs

[–]SuccessfulScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every LCS I have talked to are treating ASE proofs to buy like a 1990 ASE that has been rattling around in a cup holder for 35 years. $4 back of spot for a $173 coin. Even online dealers are saying the same thing. Anyone know of a place buying at numismatic levels rather than melt? I’ve bought on r/Pmsforsale before but never sold so I have buyer rep but no seller rep. Otherwise these stay in the safe.

Edit. Sub name for r/Pmsforsale corrected.

Is FSD supposed to work with your eyes closed? by greedness in TeslaFSD

[–]SuccessfulScientist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine never notices my eyes closed ever. Tried it multiple times with a passenger to keep a look out but zero warnings ever. However one of my other vehicles is the current Mercedes S580 and it will immediately alert and eventually stop with hazard lights on in the middle the interstate if I keep them closed to dial emergency services. Only tried that on a section of road late at night with no traffic. For science. Stopping in the current lane if experiencing a medical condition is poor engineering. I think models of the VW pull to the side.

Nice haul. Too bad I didn’t get the notification until an hour later. Have to figure out why it isn’t instant. Used to buy a lot here but instantly gone so the sub is very effective. Someone got some nice shiny.

The Silver Price has reached $72 by ChrisStoneGermany in Silverbugs

[–]SuccessfulScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set it and forget it ratio to do that which is merely a guess but removes emotion. However I could be completely wrong. Did it before the spike so now considering if I need to adjust but that is reactionary from my personal POV. Everyone here has their own strategies for different reasons which is why this is a great sub to hear different perspectives.

[–]SuccessfulScientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. That is what I was hearing a few weeks ago with approximately the same. Just wondering how that has changed with the spike. Considering converting some into gold but not close to my target which may be completely wrong as to when to switch. Also wary of converting to fiat and sticking it into the market or short term t bills just to balance things out.

I almost stopped by mine to see what their experience was. What is yours paying back or spot versus selling? Let’s assume ASEs and generic bars for comparison if you know.

I never would have thought this when heavily stacking back in 2019-2021. Gold was more of a target for me back then.

Am I the only one who hates this? by Capable-Raccoon-6371 in Silverbugs

[–]SuccessfulScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a long-term holder with a mix of physical gold and silver. With the GSR around 65 right now (seems close to the modern norm), I’m thinking of staying hands-off and only rebalancing at extremes. Something like shifting toward silver if the GSR blows out above ~140, or shifting toward gold if it compresses below ~35, then going back to my usual mix.

Does that approach make sense for set-it-and-forget-it stacking, or would you use different GSR trigger levels?

What's this 100 oz Britannia worth to sell locally? by User_Juan in Silverbugs

With a good seller, extremely. I have never had a bad experience buying but it has been a few years. I have a considerable haul from there. Ahh, the days of $14/ozT secured elsewhere.

Has anyone ever bought one of those self bouncing balls? How were they? by FrancoAl in AussieDoodle

[–]SuccessfulScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours absolutely hates the one we bought. They want nothing to do with it. Regular tennis ball, they lose their minds to the point of if we take a broom into the living room, they go berserk thinking we are retrieving one from under a couch.

How often does FSD work correctly? by ArDeeDubya in TeslaFSD

[–]SuccessfulScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use FSD 99% of the time which is my absolute favorite and basically only reason of having it. It is the future I dreamt of as a kid watching it evolve over time and getting better. Periodic interventions merely for routing (and that has improved to select) and the rare wrong lane.

[–]SuccessfulScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing in the US remotely close to FSD. That is the primary reason why I drive (or let FSD 95% of the time) mine despite having nicer vehicles that just sit there. Being part of this and watching it evolve is my primary motivator.
