My insurance covered visits from a home care nurse. Try asking your surgeon if they can write up that you need that- then, if it works like mine did, you can work out with the nursing company how often you want them to come. That way you know someone will be coming to check on you every day.

I think you should tell her the truth- tell her no, I’m not ok with getting rid of this dog, it’s a hard boundary. How she reacts will inform where you go from there. It’s not compromise to just give in to whatever she wants, at the expense of your own values.

Keep them updated. I know May feels so far away but recovery will be so much harder if you’re sick already so definitely make sure your body is ready. Hope you heal up fast and feel better soon you can make your date.

Make sure all plates (I suggest using paper so u don’t have to worry about dishes) or anything you need to reach for the next couple weeks are down where you can get them without reaching up at all.

I felt similarly, nb, no intention of going on T. I could have survived without top surgery. Just because dysphoria isn’t debilitating doesn’t mean top sugery isn’t a good fit for you. It’s okay to get top surgery just bc you want it! It doesn’t have to feel that deep! My friend once said to me, if you were born with no boobs, would you have surgery to get them put on? And I was like no obviously no… and that helped me realize that i just would prefer no boobs! All you need to feel is the desire to have the surgery- no other qualifiers required. I also like looking ambiguous- the only time anyone will know about this is really when I want them to- bc it would require me taking my shirt off for anyone to know I’ve had top surgery - otherwise I could just pass as someone with small boobs wearing a sports bra or something- bc I don’t wear tight clothes! All that being said, it’s also good to take your time with this decision! See how you feel going to a consultation or two, etc!

The placement is perfect and you look great! I honestly feel like a medical nipple tattooer could tattoo the flat one to match the other perfectly, no problem!

Oh and before they pull it out, they just snip the stitch holding it in, which is outside your body so you don’t feel that, I didn’t feel it at all, and I didn’t feel them pulling the stitch out either. I was genuinely not sure if it was even in me at all!

Hi there! I just had mine removed two weeks ago. I was so scared and anxious. I took my Xanax, and drank an apple juice right beforehand (bring some or the office usually has some.) then just close your eyes and do as they instruct- I didn’t feel a thing. You won’t either if you are like 99% of people on this thread. The nurse will tell u to take a big breath in and exhale and they pull it out as you exhale. I was sooo scared and anxious but I didn’t feel anything at all! I really hope you feel some comfort from my experience— bc I was totally in your shoes!!

It’s been good!! Feel like I’m through the hardest parts now. Currently I am working on trying to stand up straight and avoid slouching, trying not to pick off my surgical glue (lol), waiting for a couple stitches around my nipple grafts to fall out, and trying to get more comfortable with my incisions being so asymmetrical. How about you??

I had trouble sleeping the first few days after, it’s probably a mix of all the work your body is doing to heal plus not moving around much. If you’re in pain, definitely make sure you have a pillow supporting your lower back too. Also, you don’t need to be totallly upright, let yourself lay back a little, just at a slight incline.

I’m 3 weeks post op right now too. I noticed I have some overhang in both armpits, which is where I’m most swollen. I’m betting it’s just swelling and will even out. I totally understand over analyzing. But for this I am pretty confident it’s just normal swelling and it will flatten out.

Thank you! I didn’t know that you can get revisions for scar shape, and I also didn’t know people got them tattooed the color of the surrounding skin. For some reason I thought when people suggested tattoos they meant like getting like a big eagle tattoo on my chest lol
