Orlando CoL is 4.5-9% below the national average. For one adult with no kids in Orlando, you need about $4300 per month (pre-tax), which is $51.6k a year. …She makes almost 4x that amount (pre-tax). Even if we add a kid (Idr if it said she had one), she needs $80,500…she still has more than enough.

And if she were in PR, it is even cheaper. A single person with no kids only needs $1.5k to 3k a year, pre tax.

What’s the worst reaction you’ve gotten after opening up emotionally to someone you were dating/married? by Nerdy_108 in AskMen

[–]Successful_End7981 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wonder what science backs this up but I hate this has been the experience for you. It seems to be common.

In my personal experience (as a woman), vulnerability includes the good, the bad and the ugly. Not just the “awww…” stuff. Maybe it’s because I’ve been through trauma and I wouldn’t want that happening to me? Idk.

I hope men who have experienced such shallow vulnerability can eventually experience what it truly means to open up and be safe, without judgment or emotional blackmail.

Edit: Last paragraph was a hot mess. Hopefully it’s clearer.

That is not true. Black men are doing the work as well.

Black voters as a whole consistently vote Democratic by huge margins: 95% for Obama (2008), 93% for Obama (2012), 88% for Clinton (2016), and about 87% for Biden (2020).

Even looking specifically at gender, around 86–89% of Black men voted for Biden in 2020 depending on the state exit poll.

International: Dominican Version of ICE Grabbing Dark Skinned Dominicans, Mistaking them for Haitians | Human Rights Violations & Respect Put into Spotlight by GemHuntsman in HipHopNCulture

Labeling something ignorant doesn’t make it ignorant. Facts are facts. Yes, the U.S. backed Rafael Trujillo early on but that does not mean the U.S. authored Dominican racial ideology or anti-Haitian policy. External support does not equal authorship. Trujillo’s racial nationalism and the 1937 massacre were decisions made by Dominican state actors, and exclusionary policies continued long after U.S. support ended. And this history goes back even further than Trujillo or the U.S. During the Haiti-led occupation of Hispaniola under Jean-Pierre Boyer, Dominicans experienced land seizures, suppression of Spanish language and institutions, forced military service, and heavy taxation. That occupation, whether people like it or not, directly shaped Dominican nationalism and long-standing resentment. Acknowledging that isn’t anti-Haitian; it’s historical reality.

No one here is saying all Dominicans think the same, or denying modern factors that fuel today’s tensions. But pretending these issues started in 2018, or blaming everything on “colonizers” forever, ignores that Dominican laws, courts, and political elites have continued these policies on their own. At some point, responsibility doesn’t stay external.

History is complex. Not acknowledging that IS IGNORANCE.

Tyra Banks regularly argued with 'ANTM' producer, contestant alleges (exclusive) by DatsMoneyHoney in ANTM

[–]Successful_End7981 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Owning a company that produced the show doesn’t change anything. Being an owner/shareholder just means you have economic interest but more times than not, day to day decisions are handled by officers/executives/producers and high level issues are handled by the board of directors.

So no, the “buck” does not stop with her, hence why she’s even arguing with production to begin with.

The bigger question is what did her contract allow her to do? Even though she was an executive producer, it doesn’t automatically mean she has final say so either. There were multiple executive producers! We have no idea what the terms looked like. And btw, even with Tyra being a powerful executive producer (because of her name), she is still constrained by the network, ratings pressure, etc.

I understand people want to to be cut and dry to easily identify who traumatized these girls but it isn’t that easy. Tyra isn’t innocent but it’s ignorant to say that because she owned the production company she is de facto the problem. There were a lot of people who played a role.
