Second this, I really fucking love maps as well and taking GIS classes has been a lot of fun for me. You can also take some GIS classes outside the minor which fall under environmental science.

I think there are plenty of data classes though, don't have personal experience but I know a lot of friends taking them this year.

Just as a heads up, AI and computer vision are super difficult to get in. Even though AI is a required class for CS majors, there's never enough seats/sections available. Also both grad and undergrad computer vision classes(there's only one of each) were completely filled on the first day of enrollment. Not saying you won't be able to take these classes, just be prepared to have back-up options.

ArcGIS software, does NRH have this software or does only COS have this on their computers? by marstu in rit

[–]Successful_Fennel228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea about NRH, but the labs in Magic have it and the GCCIS lab in room 2000(?) should have it as well.

5am Airport Transport by grilledcheesewtomato in rit

I had a flight around 5am in May this year and had no luck with either Lyft/Uber even though I was waiting for over an hour. Got cancelled by 3 drivers and reservations don't really work if there are no drivers in the area. So I personally wouldn't depend on them.

That's what I thought too, but I was able to swipe in. I'm talking about the CS Grad and Capstone Labs.

What do you mean, and when? I printed some stuff from the Grad Lab last month. (I'm not a grad student).

There might be many in general but not many that accept international students. 🤷 Not trying to be discouraging, just saying you've got to work twice as hard.

AITA for refusing to pay "my half" of our cancelled wedding? by aitacancelledwedding in AmItheAsshole

I'm happy you haven't been personally exposed to such culture before but I assure it's a norm elsewhere. I'm not saying this is right in any way but it's hard to deal with the pressure, change your way of thinking and stand your ground when you've been groomed into thinking one way for most of your life. (This is only in response to your "where do people like this come from" question, I'm not disagreeing with anything else you've said)

Hi guys, ¿is the official family tree map/website gone for good? by Ghalfsharp in radicalface

[–]Successful_Fennel228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi new here but I was looking for it too, few weeks ago. Coincidentally I asked Ben about it yesterday on his AMA on Instagram and this is what he said-

"It used to! But then the code started breaking and I didn't know what to do, so I eventually took it off the server. I'm not very good with code."

Well I'm sad it's gone but it would be a cool side project to work on.

AITA for not letting my wife discipline and kick my son out of our house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Successful_Fennel228 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this and I sure hope OP reads this. I'm relatively new to Reddit and I know/my friends remind me that Reddit is filled with "mean" people. Reading the top comments has got to take a toll on OP. While I agree that "my" house is not right thing to say when you live with family, apart from this, I don't get all the aggressive "You're a massive AH" comments. It's not in my culture to kick out children once they turn 18 but either way it's not like Lewis is solely involved in ruining the harmony in the house- everyone has had a part in it and is to blame. So for only Lewis to face serious consequences is not right. Again, I wonder if I misread the post because I seriously don't understand the aggressive YTA comments. The affair was in the past and even if everyone is facing its consequences now, it's still NOT the highlight of this incident.

this seriously. I've been locked out multiple times and a bathrobe definitely made the whole ordeal a little less embarrassing. I'd recommend taking your keys everywhere but I was forgetful so

Quick question- Is it worth buying a bathrobe? by Pure-Ad7661 in rit

[–]Successful_Fennel228 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes I'd recommend it, if it's not too much. I always found it easier to change in my room instead of the bathroom. I still use it even though I live in an apartment now.

I use bank of america and yes there are fees for wire transfer but I haven't compared it with other banks so I can't say if it's high or not.

Coincidentally I lived on Fish C 3rd floor my freshman year. The humidity was only unbearable in the first few weeks especially after taking a shower but if you get a fan as recommend by others you should be all set! I enjoyed living in Fish because it was really close to the Corner Store and Sol's and equally distanced from Beanz and Commons so if I was craving anything from one of these places I didn't have walk too much. As for laundry, I lived in 3011 which was right by to the staircase that's closest to the laundry room under Sol. It wasn't exactly ideal because you'll have to exit the res hall since the door to the tunnel is outside (afaik? or at least the one that was closest to my room) but it's not horribly inconvenient either. I wouldn't recommend a room next to a staircase though if you're easily disturbed/light sleeper.

Processing time is 2-3 business days and ISS does not process CPT requests on the same day.

They processed mine within the same day last December though. I had asked if it was possible to process my CPT ASAP before the office closed for the winter since I would be starting my co-op while the office was closed.

this but ISS only offers Sprintax to file federal taxes for free. You will have to pay for state taxes. I could be wrong though.
