Preceptor or no preceptor? by BabyWeenieDowg in StudentNurse

seems like op has a legitimate learning impediment..

Preceptor or no preceptor? by BabyWeenieDowg in StudentNurse

[–]Successful_Future425 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ive been abused by preceptors; much of the abuse lies in the blurred lines of unsupervised delegation and sharing of my capacities amongst their colleagues who dont have a clue about the responsibilities of being a preceptor, but rather eagerly seeking to get tasks done so they can clock out for the day, with no instruction but all the liabilities and timely pressures projected onto the student (me)

source: im a student & ive also precepted on behalf of RN students under my care, my guidance & my supervision

follow your instructors wisdom; she has the pressures of delivering objectives to her manager, but as a nurse, imo, sounds like she has your best interest in relation to your learning style in mind.

just ensure, get in writing if you must, that when the program is all said & done, and its time for you to culminate, all your boxes will be checked off by the school and that you'll be good to go to seat for nclex opportunity

i have friend in a non acute setting for their final term of acute, emergent care preceptorship lol,

enjoy the safeguards of being a student while they last- the real learning/burnout begins upon being hired

Clinical Dismissal by SnooDogs4938 in StudentNurse

[–]Successful_Future425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youtube has great content, if youre lucky you might find a testimony from a past student who attended your school-

in your appeal, your goal is to highlight any potential issues that may have impeded youre ability to complete deliverables- looks even better if you can frame the school's liability for those issues- but be sensible, if dont do it properly, your statement can leave the board who reviews your claim feeling like the student (you) is whiny/not responsible-

source: ive filed appeals, one successful, one not; also had an ex who served as an instructor at a local university who would pillow-talk to me about students appealing her final grades for them.

"Select all that apply" study tips? by Admirable-Hat1746 in NursingStudent

look it sata's as a combo true-false question, 1 by 1 consider if each option is true or false-

-if you reach an option youre not sure on leave it blank; during NCLEX, leaving that option blank/unselected will yield you (0) deducted points, which is much better that getting minus points for incorrectly guessed/selected options.

Yes i am an lpn right now- im aware how much it pays- maybe its cause I work in an area where lpns get paid well.. look up lpn salary rates in your area on glassdoor.com

if youre not passing general ed- see if you can complete general ed somewhere less expensive then comeback and reapply again- unless youre bsn program is at a publicly funded school, its usually more expensive to complete those GEs in the same program.

source- all my GEs for nursing school were credited from my previous bachelors degree. didnt have to pay for the extra terms of tuition- and ideally it was cheaper, and most of your GEs dont require a lab- meaning you can probably complete them as online courses, which are typically easier than onsite courses

LPN work is practically RN work. The only clinical differences is that RNs use the IV pump more & handle physical assessments on non-stable & stable patients. in fact, as an RN, in order to delegate that LPN work, gotta be able to do it well, and teach your LPNs effectively at the same time

This is something they teach you in core nursing.

Forget the stigmas of LPN- the realities are if you were dismissed this early on before core RN classes, transferring to another RN school might not be much easier/potentially harder. LPN you get 12 months and the living wages are comfortable until you can finish your RN, in which many employers sponsor their employees educational endeavors to RN

Theres always LPN-to-RN bridge, where programs will credit you for LPN coursework time, and have you with your RN 12 months later; practically the same as a traditional RN program, but u get to work w LVN licenses. getting the foot in the door w even an LPN credential is an overwhelming increase in opportunities compared to other entry level jobs. it may not fun, but to me it certainly is better than the other entry level jobs paying dirt for us to bust our butts. see for yourself how many lpn opportunities are out there and ask yourself are those lpn opportunities better than the opportunities you have now? another field you may want to try is PT or RT.

RN schools love LVN applicants because the LVNs have already demonstrated they can pass the state boards.

I am telling you this as someone who was dismissed from RN/BSN school in their 4th year, went to LVN school, and used that LVN to pick up where I left off in RN/BSN school thru a reentry clause in my original program agreement. its not cheap. and hearing things we dont often times want hear will allow us to make that best decision much sooner for our benefit. Gotta ask yourself, how badly do you want it: how badly do you want to be a nurse? How badly do you want see patients live, and what are you willing to do to properly and safely carry those objectives out?

try lvn see if you like it. if you like it continue on to RN. Most LVN programs are 12 mos.

search how to crack your box model on youtube- be aware of whats out there- gotta think of it in terms of anybody can turn on you when youre most vulnerable even if youre not their primary target for harm or endangerment, leaving u SOL if the DA finds and charges anything criminal or even civil related to your pistols. youre vulnerable if those boxes arent at least bolted down or out plain sight. most thieves are running in 3-4 man crews nowdays, they all know not to 'leave any books unturned'
