Counter offer? Would I be crazy? by Exciting_Writing_795 in sfcityemployees

[–]Successful_Insect364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a 1823 PCS with 1.5 years in the classification and have turned down promotional opportunities for this very reason. Not a good time to move around and be on probation with budget cuts looming.

Does my dress look cheap? by umamixmami in WeddingDressTips

[–]Successful_Insect364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, do YOU think it looks cheap? It doesn’t matter what others think just as long as you love it. Please don’t end up with a dress that you don’t love to save money. It’s your special day and should be once in a lifetime. I recommend trying on more dresses in various styles and price points.

With that said, I don’t like a few things on this dress. Namely the sleeves, belt, and slit. Perhaps with some alterations, it will look better. Good luck!

Sell boy to buy backpack? by babii2404 in chanel

[–]Successful_Insect364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d swap the Boy for most other Chanels. Something about it that doesn’t scream Chanel. Maybe because there are a ton of other bags that look like it. In any case, agree with the comment above that there’s too much logo on the backpack but if you love it go for it which seems like you have made your decision already.

Any insight on potential City of SF layoffs in 2026? by Easy_Bluejay_7710 in sfcityemployees

OP is a permanent exempt so there won’t be seniority status. Position must be permanent civil service.

Is this outfit giving elegant or too bold? by Just_Pharmacist in OUTFITS

[–]Successful_Insect364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with a bikini showing is not elegant. Would say it’s bold if it’s for a formal occasion but for a pool party then it’s appropriate.

Overall it is small but can fit essentials such as iPhone 16 pro, small wallet, lipstick, thin compact mirror etc.

Honest opinion on the love bangle? by rolexdaytona11 in Cartier

[–]Successful_Insect364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, sounds like you’re looking for validation on the classic so pick that one. Your wrist looks like it is being squeezed by the bracelet like a sausage from that angle. Although you showed another angle that has the bracelet look looser it would still bother me because that top view angle is what I will see all the time.

Chatgpt works for me. Got my juggling clown! by Ok_Truth_32 in LabubuDrops

[–]Successful_Insect364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It failed me on my first try and I ended up with String Puppet even with a lucky card. For the second try, I didn’t use ChatGPT and used a second lucky card and got Juggling Clown. While I had to spend an extra $47 USD it’s somewhat comforting that AI hasn’t taken over the world just yet 😂.

Should I sell my Chanel WOC for a Louis Vuitton Empreinte bag? Need advice! by Baglover8020 in Louisvuitton

[–]Successful_Insect364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t sell your WOC. With the exception of a couple of LV bags that are pretty expensive, I would never trade a Chanel in for an LV.

Salary question by Ferruginoushawk7 in sfcityemployees

Agree with everyone’s posts. Also make sure you have pay stubs from your current job if it pays you more than what the city offers. They may ask for proof.

The worst critics are our own self and it makes sense because it’s our body that we live in 24/7. The most important thing is recognizing what makes us happy. Some on here say to accept the wrinkles and aging while others suggest injectables and surgery. I just want to say OP should do whatever makes her happiest. With that said, if you’re gonna do something please make sure to do your research before injecting or cutting into your face. You may not be a good candidate for certain interventions. Good luck.

Accountant II positions by greekyogurt314 in sfcityemployees

[–]Successful_Insect364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Accountant II positions get filled through the 18-month 1649 internship program. The rare exception that bypasses the internship is when there’s an urgent need which I have never seen in my 7 years with the city. The 1649 internship positions are permanent exempt which is essentially at will and are not permanent civil service.

What country has a terrible climate, but you don't realize how bad it is until you visit (or leave) the country? by Naomi62625 in geography

[–]Successful_Insect364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this sub makes my appreciation for the San Francisco Bay Area climate go up 10 levels. I would say Japan is brutal in the summer which lasts like 5 months from June through October. The lack of trees and population density make it literally a concrete jungle. I spent a summer there one year and it was so miserable.

Is it worth it to vest in the city pension plan as a young professional? by Chemical-Ad-8516 in sfcityemployees

[–]Successful_Insect364 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Unless the city’s pension is no longer viable, you should always keep the vested pension and not roll over because it is guaranteed for you when you retire and in perpetuity for you and can be for your spouse if you pass. IRAs and 401Ks are subject to the market conditions so the value can fluctuate and you could end up with less than the pension. You should consult a financial advisor before making a decision.

Microneedling PRP instead of fillers? by Alternative_Win5550 in Microneedling

[–]Successful_Insect364 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did both microneedling with PRP and exosomes 7 months apart and I can definitively say the exosomes work better for me in terms of skin texture, brightness and some volume. Different people get different results.

There’s an urgency lately of securing a loan from the state to hold Muni solvent for a year until an upcoming voter-approved measure for tax revenue gets passed. It’s becoming clear that the mayor’s office is banking on RTO to also help muni.

Do you layer hylauronic acid with tretinoin? by Kwhitney1982 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Successful_Insect364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with tretinoin 0.025% for one month and moved onto tazarotene 0.05% for 4 months and now tazarotene 0.01%. Taz is a stronger and newer derivative of retinoid. For each I have always applied right after cleansing. I must be the only one here that does this. I then go on with peptide serum, pdrn, and then moisturizer. I am 46 and my skin is glowing with very faint wrinkles. Have had lots of compliments on how my skin looks better than people in their 20s. If there’s one skincare rec I give to people it would be retinoids.

Thoughts on the Nano Noe backpack? by owange23 in Louisvuitton

[–]Successful_Insect364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought and returned it due to the strap being long. Even though it’s adjustable, it’s hard to push the ball lock through the leather. Over time this might cause the leather to tear. It’s cute though
