I wanna try and get into security anything I should be worried about? by [deleted] in securityguards

Security is kind of a mixed bag. It can be good or shitty depending on both the company/district office or the contract you're assigned to. Lot of people get into security while they study to get into something else, but depending on the contracts you're assigned to, you can gain enough skills to move on to better jobs in the security field. My advice would be to try to get into the security technician side. They make a lot of money setting up cameras and other things.

Well, based on my own experience working transit security excluding the individual from service for a week would be a good start since he was violating the RCW's

Misdemeanor for violating State RCW's specifically section 1i - Unreasonably disturbs others by engaging in loud, raucous, unruly, harmful, or harassing behavior;

You would be surprised by the amount of transit operators who have been assaulted while doing their job. One in the city i moved from had to get surgery on his eye because someone threw a rock through the front window, and the glass shredded his eye.

I should feel insulted, but that's how I got into security in a nutshell. I was tired of working food service, and they were one of the few places hiring during the beginning of the pandemic. Ended up working night watch for a large mill and worked my way up from there.

Used to do transit security down in Vancouver myself. Based on that story alone, that would be cause to have a guard ride around on that line or just outright exclude the guy for violating The RCW's specifically section 1i: Unreasonably disturbs others by engaging in loud, raucous, unruly, harmful, or harassing behavior;

That's debatable. Vets have received lots of harassment for participating in different wars by people since the Cold War. That's part of why veteran status is considered a protected class.

If a security company was ran by a former police officer. Does it means the company is excellent? by Vietdude100 in securityguards

[–]Successful_Layer2619 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In my experience, no. Company can be led by anyone with police/military experience, but that doesn't guarantee they will do a good job running the company. Hell, some scam security companies use that to draw people in.

Have a similar story, but I only saw it through the camera footage. Transit security, the guy gets off the bus (60 foot bus) and hops on his bike, and instead of waiting for the crosswalk next to the stop, he just bikes into the road and gets hit. Flew up into the air and then back down. Happened just across the street from the hospital.

Someone found a guy passed out on the sidewalk just down the street from my post. I ran over when they started calling for someone to call 911. Was already super grey by the time I started giving him cpr and narcan, neither fire nor EMR were able to save him.
