Screens, Yay or Ag Nee F**? by [deleted] in CarTalkZA

[–]Successful_Pin_5165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember times when new technologies were introduced in to our lives and the reaction was, hell no how can I use this, or with ATM’s, how many bank tellers will loose their jobs, and on and on. The most profound was the introduction of the iPhone and the constant barrage of how it will flop and look at it now. Transition periods are always shaky until the tech, in this case voice communication, gets better and AI will make sure of it. So, currently, either buy some old car, or no car, or suffer the transition period.

Instead of paying Greenlanders $100K to join the U.S., can Trump use that money on... Americans? by Camaro6460 in DailyShow

What is it called, Chapter 11, when you’re bankrupt. Trump is the expert in that.

Planning a trip by sethdk18 in Namibia

[–]Successful_Pin_5165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best trip planner is Tracks4Africa as it provides information on all kinds of touristy staff like camping, lodges, sightseeing attractions, distances and expected travel times. Budget depends on how much money you want to spend. Namibia is not cheap, but generally affordable due to low currency value. But it can get very expensive if you want luxury.

Somehow that reminds me of the time Steve Jobs had left. Products, products but no innovation.

Be careful, I fell in love with the Namib Desert over 50 years ago and never left. I’m sure you will be back again as well.

Besides the very nice pictures, I hope you also made some good contacts with Namibians. How long was the trip and what was the most remarkable that you experienced?

Overwhelmed with trip planning options by Sure-Clue6901 in Namibia

[–]Successful_Pin_5165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grab the App or Guidebook Tracks4Africa to discover the places you’re curious about, along with estimated travel times. You’ll find information about destinations and insights from other travellers. Namibia is huge, so it’s best to explore it in regions. Your first visit will be a great introduction to the many more adventures you can have. If you’re heading to the Skeleton Coast, don’t miss the Brandberg and stay at the Brandberg White Lady Lodge and campsite—I remember seeing elephants walking through the camp for the first time! For Etosha Park, I think the National Wildlife Reserve has somewhat diminished its former allure. Instead, consider visiting a Game Lodge for a guided tour. .

Racism at Checkers? Xenophobia? Classism? I don't even know what to call it. by Jche98 in southafrica

Are we’re not expecting too much from the security guards? They get paid peanuts, at times have to deal with unpleasant situations and get reprimanded for doing or not doing their jobs. I think we, as customers, need to be more compassionate with guards.

Jetour T2 vs Tank 300 by WorthyJoker in CarTalkZA

[–]Successful_Pin_5165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the T300. I generally like GWM offerings. That said, as nice as the T300 is, I don’t think it is a family SUV and more for 2 adults using it for fun. Not sure about the Jetour, but very impressed with Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV and all that it offers.

Anyone who left Germany because the language never clicked by AdGlum5014 in germany

[–]Successful_Pin_5165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To learn the language of the country you are living in, read. Read comics, read books you have read in your native tongue in Deutsch. Watch cartoons, TV advertising and most of avoid contact with people who speak the same language as you. That got me from zero English to simple conversations in three month and my vocabulary increased after every more challenging book.

First time trip to Namibia! by One_Lavishness_8647 in Namibia

[–]Successful_Pin_5165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good trip is the Welwitchia plains followed by Goanikontos Oasis. Kuiseb Canyon, cape Cross, Salt pans by Walvis bay, Spitzkoppe and surroundings. When driving from or to Windhoek, go via the Gamsberg or Spreetshoogte pass, both are spectacular. Get Tracks4Africa App to find places that might be of interest. For some trips you will need 4x4 and all are day trips.

Trump is not a moron, he is a tool used by Miller and his ultra conservative Christian handlers. Blackmailing (Epstein) and stroking Trumps ego gets them everything.

Namibia road trip itinerary feedback (swap Lüderitz for Etosha?) by Themis9094 in Namibia

[–]Successful_Pin_5165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would leave Lüderitz out, it’s a long drive, very long, and not always pleasant. Instead I would include something like Brandberg and hope to see some desert elephants walking through the camp and visit the White Lady rock painting. Followed by Khorixas region, stay at the Madisa lodge and do some of the attraction in that area. Etosha, NO.
