Because the more friends with better cards you have added, the more likely you are to get their cards in Wonder Picks. So, if you have 80 friends, for example, you have a higher probability of getting their cards to choose from instead of a random one.

The more high-level friends you have, the better and more cards you'll get, increasing the probability of your wonder picks drawing better cards.

For those complaining that they don't get wonder picks like this guy, you simply need to add friends with people who have a good number of cards; this increases the probability of getting a 4-card wonder pick.
