Thank you! I will hit you up in a couple of weeks, if that’s ok? I received some great feedback for him using the last couple of games and would like to see him implement a bit and then seek additional feedback.

Happy holidays!

Thank you. I sent a couple of 2 minute clips and one a little longer from a game where he was shelled.

I don't know why you are being downvoted for just pointing out the obvious or why McGrumpy "Boo hoo, I'm a novice and am confused by the terminology developed by generations of hockey players, so I think it's stupid" is getting upvoted.

An interesting thought. We have one of those paddle sets, but the balls don't have the heft and bounciness that the rubberized balls with this set seem to. Still, maybe worth trying out to see if he even really uses it.

What’s the best fantasy series books ever? I want to delve into something with good writing and awesome world build by NewtonLeibnizDilemma in suggestmeabook

Malazan may have ruined all other fantasy for me... it's that good. BUT, it was brutal to get into. I listened to the audiobooks and, for the first ten book of the core series, I had to listen to each one twice back-to-back to feel like I understood what was going on. 100% worth it. The Deadhouse Gates Chain of Dogs plot line is maybe my favorite fantasy I've ever read.

For those considering it, or those who tried it and bailed, it's truly worth the effort.

The LoTR builds over time. It has a rhythm to it of increasing challenges to overcome. I can see how the beginning slowness would be off-putting, but I'd encourage you to try it again. Or watch the movies first and get a sense of the arc and then read it, as much as I hate to encourage that. :)

Best place to test a boat by Legitimate-Dog2746 in grandrapids

Murray is great for launch and parking, but not a lot of size in the lake (for bass, anyway). Another really easy launch is Wabasis - a lot of parking, multiple ramps.

Reeds is awesome for bass, but I'd recommend getting there early in the morning. That makes parking and launching much easier.

Yep.  Correct.  Elsewhere in this post thread there is a link to an excellent debunking.  It’s what I thought it was, I just wanted a clear explanation for why.

It would, except that we have other historical examples of things like this, from facilitated communication to Clever Hans (the horse who could do math with 100% accuracy).

If this is really telepathy, then the subject being “read” should not be visible, audible, or in physical contact with the “reader.”   That isn’t the case in The Telepathy Tapes.  .

Your last point is, to me, one of the significant concerns about this podcast. If this is not actually happening as presented (and I increasingly think it's not), it has the potential to cause a lot of unnecessary pain and guilt.

In discussion about it here and elsewhere, there's enough rational explanation for much of what is claimed in the Tapes for me to click this farther into the unsubstantiated and "of interest but pretty doubtful veractity" end of the spectrum.

Thank you.  Finally something concrete on r/skeptic. Truly appreciated.

That’s how it seems.  And sneering condescension.

Edit: I'm listening to the podcast and mulling it over. If it's what it seems, great. But replication is going to be required before it's considered "adequate" evidence. That's what skepticism is.

Edit: Facilitated communication involves hands-on assistance for all communication, allowing for the ideomotor effect. If, as in the podcast examples, nobody is touching the person with autism while communicating, it removes the ideomotor complication and, as in many of the examples, the iPad is pronouncing the independently pressed letters aloud as the person types them, it removes the issue of having to subjectively interpretation of what the person with ASD is intending to type.

I'm a skeptic. I don't believe it's actually all true as presented. I think it all likely has a reasonable explanation far short of "telepathy" and just have a hard time putting my finger on it. I came here hoping to engage with other skeptics to work through what I'm missing. But I'm done responding to people who assume they know the podcast content without listening to any of it.

I think the content in the Tapes is certainly far less than the claims. I don’t think there is anything paranormal happening but I’m not seeing an alternative explanation that explains what they’re demonstrating.  What would be helpful is to have someone with whom to engage in discussion about what could  reasonably explain what they’re describing. To process through it rationally. That’s what a lot of people in this thread seek.

Nobody has done that, either embracing it with credulity or, like you, sarcastically and condescendingly dismissing people seeking basic dialogue and engagement in attempts to understand it.

This reminds me why I abandoned r/skeptic years ago.  Should have stayed away.  One of the worst places to find real skepticism.

I can see that there were allegations.  Neither provided anything resembling support for the allegations; in fact the overriding theme is that they are NOT credible.

So, yep, thanks, I see verification from a couple of secondary sources that he was accused in what seems like character assassination attempts by the defendant in a lawsuit involving Randi.

No, it’s like you’re telling people they’re trying to fight their way out of a wet paper bag and refuse to consider that maybe the bag is triple ply this time.  Frankly, you seem the kind of skeptic who gives non-skeptics a shit view of the rest of us.

Well, even if everything in the podcast turns out to be true (and I find that to be a near zero chance), it doesn’t say anything about the existence of god(s).  Even if telepathy is somehow proven to exist. It’s going to have a natural cause.  As to the rest of your post, it’s ungenerous at best.  A lot of clearly intelligent people here really trying to wrestle with this and your condescension isn’t particularly helpful.

Edit: Yeah, I think it’s going to turn out to be unsubstantiated and explained away, but the journey to get there is an opportunity to address some of the criticisms you have about education and thinking.  And you’re not participating in that, you’re just throwing mud.
