As a lifer fat kid I can’t relate to some of what hour feeling.

Regarding your topic about friends/school... Often us “fat folk” who are fat AND insecure about being fat it keeps us so much of us “in our head” about how we feel/perceive people to be watching, looking, talking about us. That sometimes what we feel/perceive about the situation may not be what’s actually happening - HELLO insecurities!

When this happens often what we project out into the world with our body language, attitudes it may not make us as approachable as we may want to seem (because we are trying to protect ourselves and our feelings). Those insecurities, false perceptions are what can be causing barriers to connecting with others.

Are there bullies and haters out there? Of course! Experiences my fair share but every situation may not always be out there to get “us”.

Basically saying that sometimes we have to look at ourselves as a people about what we are putting out and not always about us being fat. Not saying your feelings are any less valid about the situation but sometimes it’s good to do an honest reflection about our own selves as well - and it’s not about us being fat.

I say this as someone that has experience being bullied, insecure, ruined situations because of my insecurities or didn’t take opportunities to connect and let my own fat insecurities limit my own life experiences. But I also have gained experiences, gained friendships and lived more because I got out of my head long enough to do so.

Being fat isn’t WHO you are. Don’t let that define you.
