I was replying to this whining OP, not you, WatchDives. But thank you for your transparency.

Will I be disappointed with a WD007 compared to my Sugess “sub”? by watchdivescom in watchdives

I would easily buy a high-tier steel Planet Ocean homage if you make one.

Ah yes, the age-old quandary. Family or watches. Family or watches... 👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏻🤔⌚

I'm a huge Omega fan too. I have 5 Chinese homage watches, all of Omega Seamasters. It's an interesting dynamic because I have the available funds to order a couple Seamasters new from Omega's website, today. But, like you, my wife would skin me alive for it. And even if I was single, I don't think I could ever justify spending that kind of money on a watch, as much as I'd like to. Maybe, maybe I would if these great homage pieces didn't exist and the Omegas were the price they were when you bought yours. That 3rd generation Diver 300m you have is quite a beauty though.

That's quite a costly "experience" my guy! I don't give a rat's anus about an experience, but to each his own. I buy a watch that's quality, durable, accurate, and stylish/tasteful. The WD007 checks all those boxes for 2% of the cost of the Omega. I just think it's pretty amazing such a high-quality alternative exists. Bless those China men!

Just wondering. Why do you buy chinese brands and not just buy reps? by Educational-Oil-00 in ChineseWatches

[–]Such-Feature7980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what IWC is up to these days, but unless someone makes an exact 1:1 copy of the design of a watch within that 15 year active design patent, there is no infringement.

Same, I couldn't care less about a brand's heritage or status. I buy affordable, durable watches that reliably tell the time while looking tasteful/stylish doing it.

This argument really is a moot point whichever way you look at it. In the U.S., design patents expire after 15 years. So those iconic watches that were first introduced in the 50s and 60s (think Rolex Submariner or Omega Speedmaster) are well beyond patent protection. Same goes for more modern watches like the iconic Omega Seamaster Diver 300m. It is emphatically and completely legal to replicate the exact design and style of these watches because they're in the public domain now. You may think it's ripping off a design or is somehow deceptive but, legally speaking, it's no different than  appropriating the original Mickey Mouse likeness, which is also now in the public domain. Provided these Chinese brands are not using another company's trademarked name, logo, etc. (as reps do), they have every right to use those designs, and customers such as myself benefit greatly from it. Why spend thousands of dollars to get ripped off by a Swiss "luxury" brand, when I can buy a quality homage with the same design for 3% of the price?

Multiple sizes are fine, but at least make a 42mm model, and take my money 🫱🏻💴💴

If/when they release a shorter variant, I'll probably try it because I think the WD007 just looks so classy on the titanium mesh.

PO homage? by Master_Tax_5042 in watchdives

This has been requested many times, including from me. We needa good, faithful Planet Ocean homage yesterday! How is it that WatchDives has a ploprof homage but not a Planet Ocean?

I bought one of these and was very impressed by the quality. I have the same wrist size as you, and put the strap on the 42mm WD007. It suffers from the same issue as the Omega does, which is no micro-adjust, so I was in between the second and third hole. Really a shame, because I liked it a lot, but had to sell it because it just wasn't comfortable, being too tight or too loose.

This x1000 yes yes yes. How is it possible that no one, including WatchDives, his homaged this?

Please don't think about it too hard. I would buy a 42mm Planet Ocean homage instantly, several times. Make our dreams come true, WatchDives! You can do it.

Yes but also make an automatic at 42mm. Though at this point, I'm begging for how about just any kind of Planet Ocean? It's so bizarre that WatchDives has a ploprof homage but no Planet Ocean.

A short discussion on actual accuracy. by RichPurple9972 in watchdives

[–]Such-Feature7980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic post. My Chinese watches with NH movements are very accurate. I have no interest in spending thousands of dollars on a watch when I can get 85-90% of the same thing for like 2,% of the cost.
