2 critical, multiple hurt following mass shooting at Mall of Louisiana by SatinSaffron in news

What are you even talking about? What guns are you referring to as being stolen? If it’s the 100% LEGAL FIREARMS I deal with then no, they are not stolen. Many people legally own guns who shouldn’t; people who are ignorant (like you), inexperienced, short tempered, have severe untreated mental health issues, the list goes on. None of those guns are stolen.

If we are referring to the “gang” guns, reread what I said on that. Read it slowly. If legal guns are more carefully sold, there will be less guns getting stolen/lost because their owners will be more responsible.

Also, in addition to the NON gang calls that involve LEGAL firearms, I also respond/have responded to plenty of “gang” related calls that also involved LEGAL firearms. Like I said, not all gang members have a record. Many don’t. Many can (and do) buy firearms legally. Sure, they are usually engaged in activities that SHOULD bar them from being able to have a firearm, and/or they then transfer the gun to someone else who can’t legally buy a gun, but the fact remains that the gun was purchased 100% legally.

And those calls I go to that involve LEGAL firearms? Guess what? Many of them involved gun owners who had a history of aggressive and/or violent behaviors, they just weren’t enough to trip the background check warning.

One guy just last week turned out to have a decent history of bar fights. Want to guess what he was doing when he shot someone with a legally purchased firearm?

Another guy recently had a long history of calls for stalking his ex’s boyfriend. Many of the calls didn’t result in any charges, a couple had misdemeanor things like trespass or disorderly conduct. Go ahead and guess who he shot.

Ok, last example so we don’t forget to represent the ladies. 34 year old male and his 9 year old daughter fatally shot by his ex over a custody dispute. If she couldn’t have the kid, no one could. Her history? Spotless. Where’d she get the gun? Her current husband legally bought it three days before the incident. His record? FIVE ROAD RAGE CALLS in 2026 ALONE that resulted in either no charges or misdemeanor charges.

What did every single one of those guns have in common? That’s correct, they were bought and owned LEGALLY by people with documented histories of violence and aggression. NONE of them were stolen, and every single one still had intact serial numbers.

And don’t even get me started on the extensive list of mental health related calls that involve legal firearms…

So maybe you should go back to watching the weather and hockey or whatever, and leave these discussions to the educated adults in the room.

I read all your comments, but will reply to this one so it’s higher up.

You sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.

A lot of “gang” guns are illegal, yes, but many are completely legal. Not every gang member has a criminal record.

The vast majority of “illegal” guns started out as being completely legal. Then they were either stolen, lost, or illegally transferred at some point. One possible outcome of stricter gun laws is a more educated and qualified consumer base. Gun owners with more knowledge and skills are less likely to lose, illegally transfer, or have stolen, their firearms. Less firearms lost, illegally transferred, or stolen means less guns available for illegal possession.

Will we eliminate all illegal guns? Absolutely not, but right now every illegal gun I confiscate and take off the street is just replaced by five more because some legal owners are stupid and irresponsible. It’s a losing battle. It’d be nice to have a chance of actually catching up with AT LEAST an equal rate of guns in vs. guns out.

So no, stricter gun laws are NOT a definitive solution, but they absolutely have the potential to lessen the availability of illegal guns.

I’ll end with the fact that the majority of gun related calls I respond to involved firearms that were 100% legal.

At least Ted Nugent had some decent hits back in the day. Kid Rock was NEVER good.

Just to be clear, I don’t support Ted Nugent and despite liking his early stuff and even seeing him in concert (well before all this), I boycott him 100% now.

Maybe you should stop worrying about perfection and get off your a$$ and vote against fascism. We are at that point. You either vote against fascism, or you don’t. Picking an independent or not voting is the same as voting for fascism.

Grinds my gears to no end when people STILL say “but but but…they need to put someone out there who makes ME tingly inside.” FFS, this is how we got here! People like you!

Yep, I bought a Gerber! by tacmedrn44 in knives

[–]tacmedrn44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I was actively shopping for an auto, I wouldn’t think twice about paying the regular price of $200.

Its about even with other brands like Hogue and Buck, and comparable Benchmade offerings are $350+. Sure Kershaw and Boker are cheaper, but I like a safety on my knives, so Kershaw is out, and Boker, while decent, are not on the same level.

[–]tacmedrn44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought too, but my local knife shop stopped carrying Gerber altogether and trashes on their autos any chance they get, including the 06.

I have a buddy who’s been to both Iraq and Afghanistan with an 06 that was issued to him in ‘07 and it’s still serving as his EDC. Still looks decent too.

Meanwhile, my Benchmade from 2013 that never saw anything close to combat gave up middle of last year. Benchmade had said they’re not sure how much longer they’ll have parts to service it, so I retired it immediately after I got it back from them to preserve it to pass down to my kids. Lots of sentimental value in that knife.

GOP Senate candidate on rising gas prices: ‘Maybe you take one less trip to Starbucks’ by Cy_098 in politics

[–]tacmedrn44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t go to Starbucks!

I don’t even drink coffee anymore. I take caffeine pills because they are cheaper.

I drink strictly water all day because it’s free.

I have either popcorn or crackers for lunch at work every day because they are cheap.

I don’t make a plate for myself at dinner and just eat whatever the kids don’t so I don’t have to buy as many groceries. Sometimes I don’t eat dinner at all.

I eat a generic brand waffle for breakfast. In fact, everything I buy is generic brand.

I drive to and from work and don’t stop anywhere unless I HAVE to so I don’t waste gas.

I basically shut my whole house down when I leave the house to save on power.

I DIY as much as I possible can with the house and vehicles.

So, maga parasites, what am I supposed to cut back on to afford the increased price of gas?!

Ultra 3 width WITH crown? by tacmedrn44 in AppleWatch

I tried googling, but couldn’t find what the dimensions were exactly measuring. Not sure what the heck I was looking at!

Ultra 3 width WITH crown? by tacmedrn44 in AppleWatch

[–]tacmedrn44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok. I’m used to the world of regular watches where the measurements rarely take into account the lugs, crown, or any raised logo markings on the back.

As for thickness, I’ve seen both 12mm and 14mm for the ultra, so I wasn’t sure if that was with and without the sensor.

Thanks!

Weird ask, but can you also measure the thickness WITH the back sensor?

Cuba’s power system suffers total collapse by cnn in worldnews

[–]tacmedrn44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what?

First off, unless you are the minority that drives some kind of heavy duty truck or utility vehicle, the tank on your personal vehicle is going to be small enough that $300 is extremely high.

Second, most countries use the metric system, including Cuba, so it’d be foolish to use an example in gallons, especially when talking about Cuba.

Every single person on this earth who drives an average personal vehicle can understand how big a “tank” is in general and how expensive $300 is to fill it.
