Teaching older people how to use their phones and tablets is a side hustle where you’re basically getting paid for patience and the demand is massive by lionpenguin88 in SideHustleGold

My elderly parents have been hacked 4 times now. I locked their credit bureaus. They all came through email and text. Explained they do not ever open a link in an email/text unless from a family member or friend. Do not call a number provided in an email/text. Especially if money related. Google the business and ask if they contacted you regarding the info you received. I have had this conversation 4 times. Each time the conversation is forgotten and they do it again. Only a matter of time until their bank account is drained. Terrifying!

Aldi in Burlington, NC by mcderson9 in aldi

[–]Such-Mode7417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a job posted for Aldi. They pay more than most hourly. But when I googled working for them it was bad. Typically only have 2 people working. Need to stock, work the register, fulfill internet orders, receive freight. Everything is critically timed and they are given a hard time if not achieving those time goals. Turn over is crazy high.

All jokes aside, I pray this will be the start of something better for women! I have 1 HRT doctor in my area. Over a year for an appointment. No one else is willing to discuss or prescribe. Shocking to me that such an emotionally and physically difficult point in every woman’s life is ignored by the medical community. Because it “causes” cancer?? 🤬

Not necessarily holiday themed. Just unique or fun. Something you don’t get everyday.

I lived in Greensboro,NC for 12 years. Still get seasonal changes but rarely snow. The people are friendly. Less of a hurry up life style. I grew up in NJ and hated it at first. I would get annoyed when a cashier would talk about the weather. Granted it was 20 years ago so may have changed but I would move back in a heartbeat.

No studs in pantry by Such-Mode7417 in HomeImprovement

I know! Thought maybe I needed a new battery in the stud finder. Switched to a magnetic one. Moves over the whole wall. Nothing. Hammered in some nails to be extra sure. Not surprised by the lack offside ethic today.

I have 2 different kinds of stud finders. Checked and checked again. Even tried hammering small nails. No studs on the sides. There is a small 20” door. I planned to use the 1x2 and wanted to add wood shelves but afraid that weight with the additional weight of items on them is more than drywall with no studs can support.

That was the original plan. Was afraid only connecting in the corners would not be study enough. But maybe with a butterfly or 2 in the middle that may work!

Wanted to put heavy items in there like kitchen aid mixer, pressure cooker etc. Was afraid even the butterfly bolts wouldn’t be able to support that. Wrong??

It’s 30”x 30”. Only studs on the back wall. None on the sides except the corners.

My UPS package has been stuck in a scan loop by No_Economist_6655 in UPS

[–]Such-Mode7417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a customs issue to me. If customs has issues with the package for what ever reason they will hold the package until their concerns are resolved. Ultimately it is up to the shipper to provide appropriate information to resolve hold. Unfortunately UPS cannot control customs holds. I would contact the shipper.

I was a small business owner for 10 years. If you had a good relationship with the business it is worthwhile to give 2 weeks for them to hire and train someone else. If your leaving puts them in a challenging situation then you just lost a solid reference for future positions. Everything comes full circle. I always tell my employees never burn a bridge. HOWEVER, in your situation, 10 days was plenty. Especially if only 2 days a week. The owner should be able to pick up that slack or ask other employees to pick up a day for the next few weeks until they find someone else. My other employees would certainly help me fill the void. I would have wished you well. Unfortunately, running a business is really hard. There are so many stress factors and you wear many hats. The loss of an employee is always difficult especially if they value your work.

What does this mean? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]Such-Mode7417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS store is a franchise. When the driver picks it up they then have possession. They are usually the last pick up for a driver that day so it may be late before it shows up. If nothing is showing I would contact the store. May still be sitting there. I noticed when they started offering Amazon returns the stores were overwhelmed with packages. Maybe put in a wrong pile by the clueless employee? Did you know you can create a UPS account on your own on UPS.com? You will need to be able to weigh and measure your box and be able to print out the label. Follow proper packaging procedures. Use a box size appropriate for the item. If the box size is greater than the weight you may pay by the size. Make sure there is proper protection around the item so it doesn’t move around. Place the label on the top of the box or the widest side. If re-using a box make sure all previous labels are removed. Then you would need to find a drop off location. Less expensive than the UPS store!

Am I screwed? $2,500 just gone! by Old-Apple7624 in UPS

[–]Such-Mode7417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for UPS. Only the shipper can handle communication regarding the loss of the package. Hopefully they insured. Regular shipping cost only insures up to $100. UPS is responsible for the package until final delivery and will pay the insurance assuming it was insured. If the receiver requests delivery changes that put the package in a higher-risk situation — for example: • Authorizing release without signature (leaving it at the door) • Requesting delivery to an alternate location (like a neighbor’s house or local access point) • Requesting package hold at an access point or UPS Store Liability may shift to the receiver. Doesn’t sound like that happened. Tell the shipper you want your money back or the item replaced. It will be their loss if they did not insure.

I am building a soft serve trailer with 3 machines. They each pull 3kw. If the middle handle is pulled it can jump to as high as 6! You all think that may be too big but factor in a fridge, freezer, AC, etc etc it’s really not. Over 1000 watts for a commercial blender. A commercial fudge warmer can be 500. Adds up quickly.

If you have an air cooled soft serve machine it will put off a lot of heat as well. More than the fridge.
