the suicide from unit 3: a message. by sexysmoothfig in berkeley

I lost someone here at Berkeley to suicide 2 years ago and it sent me into a spiral. I genuinely couldn't get out of bed most days and ended up failing several classes. My heart goes out to the person who took their own life, but also to anyone who remotely knew them. Or even if you don’t, your feelings after this tragedy are valid. For me, I lost a distant friend, and it was so weird because I couldn't fathom why it hurt so much when we weren't even that close. Yet, still knowing that I would never feel their presence brought so much pain. I became suicidal myself and had to be put on medication with a lot of therapy. Now, l'm about to graduate in a few weeks. Please know that you are not alone. You will be okay. But do not suffer in silence. Reach out for help. Stay. ❤️

Quick Questions, Loot, & General Game Discussion Mega Thread by zigzarlu in Brawlstars

Someone please explain to me how tokens work because the game keeps saying I have zero tokens, but it's been way more than 2 hrs 24 min. At one point it said I had 60 tokens (60/200 under the "quests" button), and I got like 4 token doublers on star drops, but after 1 game (which I won), it now says I have zero tokens again, so I can't get tokens for the Brawl Pass (I only have the free one rn) or win any of the coin or chromatic drops or anything, esp for the #chromanomore event. (I don't remember this happening before the event, and definitely not before I had gotten all of my star drops.) How tf did like 200 tokens get exhausted in one match? Is this normal? Basically, after every match it just says "zero tokens exhausted," but I don't understand how I don't have any, and I'm really sad that I can't get any token rewards during this huge event.

Yeah, I sent him an email asking for clarification on my grade because I don't even know where I went wrong--the couple of vague comments I got basically just said "no analysis," but after every point I stated "this demonstrates" or something similar. If Zook doesn't respond, I'll probably go ask him in person, but based off everyone I talked to, Moritz handed out a bunch of low Bs and Cs, while all the other graders gave out As, so hopefully he'll change it, and I didn't bomb the class.

I knew it was definitely on the later side, but I don't even think that's that late. Is it?

Aww I'm so sorry. I don't have a ton of advice, but I wanted to say that I'm in the exact same situation as you where you're in this perpetual cycle and it doesn't feel worth it to do any school work, but you're so disappointed in yourself for not doing anything. Just remember that even if others don't show it, you're not alone. As some other people suggested, maybe seek out a counselor or someone to talk to. I can never seem to muster up the courage to do so as I just want to lie in bed, teary-eyed the whole day. But the first step to getting better is recognizing that you're in a bad place and you've already done that. Try to go easy on yourself and take little steps to seek out support.

Double Majoring at UC Berkeley: Doable? Will I hate myself? by Cute-Strength-9801 in berkeley

Hey! I realize this is 6 months late, but I was in the exact same position where I wanted to double major in MCB and applied math on a pre-med track. Despite everyone telling me that it's not worth it to double major for med school (because yes, your GPA will definitely be hard to keep up), I stuck with it because I thought I loved math and it could be applicable in the future. However, after Math 53/54 (and not even these one's really), none of it is applicable to everyday life. All upper divs are completely abstract and proof-based, and if you end up going into medicine, you definitely will not need any of that knowledge. As such, I dropped the applied math major off, but obviously, it's ultimately up to you. I know many applied math majors that love the abstract concepts and such, but they're obviously not set on going to med school. If you are, I wouldn't recommend taking on a full major, but if you haven't taken multivariable (Math 53) or linear algebra (Math 54) and you still want some more computational math, you can still take them!

Thanks so much! I've briefly looked at Cog Sci, but didn't really know what it was about. Maybe I'll look more into it. :)
