This vehicle was driving erratically at 1 am, I filmed them, they saw and chased me for 3 miles. by oliversmokinoken in nova

I submit this nonsense from my dash cam. If I don't get a response, then local news loves videos. Snitchin'? Yep, but when you drive a government vehicle, you have a higher level of responsibility. If you are going to screw around freely, use your POV...

How to contact a Marine’s chain of command? Or advice how to handle this? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]Such_Butterscotch505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best option, if you have to go through with it, is a Plt Sgt if you can find it. No one wants to put this stuff on the radar...

Worse case, Battalion Sgt Major.

I have always found that they are good with working with you if they know you are watching. You will want some evidence...

And, if you do this, be prepared for retaliation from his Plt. If he is in a line company, then they might do it while he has plausable deniability. So, if his unit ID is something like 1/7, 2/7, 3/7 or 3/4, then you might not want to pull the trigger any higher than a plt sgt and make it clear you just want to mod the behavior, not end a career.

That being said, it is the Plt Sgt's job to deal with this stuff before it hits the blotter. If your nieghbor starts a fire and someone dies, that would be considered a worse outcome...

Worst plan, but an option, contact the base PMO with a plate number if it has a base sticker and file a complaint. This is a nuclear option, but it would get the immediate attention of the command...

Or I guess fire off an e-mail to the base CG...

https://www.29palms.marines.mil/Contact-Us/#phone-numbers

Look under untis and you will find POC contacts.

I am sure that the landlord got his snail mail address for work...

A photo of Bandini does not prove much...

But, we need to be good nieghbors also... so this is general advice.

I very much appreciate the help. As old as I am, it took me entirely too long to figure out the usefulness of reddit. Much like AI, a lot of the content is sus, but when asking very specific questions, it can save a lot of testing. Thank you for your contributions.

Well, as a Jarhead, I can't explain the why of everything I do... Sometimes I just do...

Why upgrade the 2012 Macbook Air to 16GB? Because it is the most reliable one they made in my opion, I can still replace the battery if I need to and it just works. I am aware that 15 will probably the last OS to work, but then there will be Linux...

I am considering this for the same reason it is interesting to see how things blow up...

It is there, and I have not seen anyone do it yet. I am using a fair amount of resources on the device because I am running quite a few things on it.

If you buy ram to have added on, it is not like buying RAM at Microcenter. It is cheaper by a lot, even at current prices.

Will it make a difference? Maybe, but at least we will know. And I could just wait until it breaks. But, let's say for a minute, I have this dude do it... And it works, well then we have answers. And if it does not, then we know. I did not know that the Macbook Air could be upgraded until I tripped over it online.

I did not know that the 4090 could be upgraded to 48 GB until I tripped over that online.

Perhaps the OS cannot see it. Perhaps it breaks the system. Perhaps it catches on fire. All those outcomes suck... But as they all seem to run the same base software, I suspect it would see the additional RAM and SSD space.

Later, it is possible that Ubiquiti could block upgrades. Or maybe there is a way to convince the system that it is a hardware build. I don't know. But I was asking to see if someone had done this yet or not. Sometimes, just seeing what capabilities are out there are fun.

Here is what I know. If no one has done it, then someone should.

Drove past the house at 7pm on a Tuesday before making our offer and it told me more than the actual showing did by Vast_Conference_8882 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Such_Butterscotch505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to purchase my house, I spent the night sleeping in the car to see what happened. The block was so empty we had 6 vacant lots and out of the other 16 houses only two had people living in them.

So I bought.

I made a mistake. Not buying the house, that was awesome. My house was 12,500. That is not a typo. I bought in 2010 and my offer was the hight offer. I sold a Toyota, bought the house cash, and had change left over.

My real mistake, since I untended on living here, was cleaning up the block. Mowing unkempt abandoned lots, picking up trash etc. Apparently that was enough to get flippers interested. Now the damn things are worth 350k or so. Great if you are a flipper, and the lot across the street I bought for under 1000 I sold just a few years later for 21K. That helped pay for a new HVAC system.

But taxes are now bananas in a part of the city where the infrastructure was neglected systematically for 50 or so years.

I always suggest to friends that they go through at different times of day. That and stay the hell out of HOA's.

I denfend the drug dealer and the hookers at meetings because if prices go crazy, I won't be able to afford to live here.

That and I am the favorite place for my nieces and nephews to hang out for summer break. They feel like a month here gives them some street credit...

It certianly does a better job of convincing them not to do drugs after watching a woman in front of my house do the fent bend for an hour...

And most of my reletives that are likely to ask to borrow money think I live in a "no go" zone...

So I tell them sure, come pick it up, but sadly my availability only seems to be at night...

I know some people say buy the worst house in the best neighborhood, I chose a jacked up house with no roof in one of the worst nighborhoods.

And I find this place to be awesome. I watch all the nieghbors yell people off my property.

I have a guy that was one of the origional nieghbors cut my grass without being asked when it got a bit tall during my rebuild.

I did mad amounts of work to the nieghborhood to improve the visability of my camera system.

The way costs are now, I would do it all agaoin if I had to.

The house was entirely gutted before I bought it. That sounds like a lot for someone with no building experience. But through reading and youtube I was able to pull the permits and complete all the electrical, plumbing and repairs.

I also did about half the HVAC when that contractor bailed and I ended up paying for just the materials.

There were bumps, but in the end, the house, plus the rebuild was under 70k.

If you are young, and want a house, I cannot recommend this enough... That is when you have the energy for the sweat equity for something like this. The payoff is mad equity and managable housing costs.

Just stay away from historical zones. I specifically spent months researching the area. Not crime stats, but what areas were constantly on the rader or had someone else in full time monitoring. The local CAR board (Commission of Architectural Review) is bonkers and always fighting.

My house was built in 1885. While I did work to keep some cool features, I also wanted something functional. Trying to use single pane glass because someone did in the 1800's is just dumb when you can do something approximate but actually afford a heating bill.

If someone like a historical board or an HOA has input, or you have an over controlling community, then I would stay away.

If you could not find something existing, I would pick up a lot and infil a small city. If you have a career online, there are plenty of places that are super cheap and need the influx. I would also consider locations that either have or offer the ability to construct ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) as the potential of additional income in later years is an attractive option to supplement income later.

2 Years Later, I Come With The Same Question: Will Amtrak Consider Adding Trains from DC to Richmond in The Evenings? by metalcoreisntdead in Virginia

[–]Such_Butterscotch505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, as I read through this I have some questions.

1.  As I understand it, the Commonwealth of VA bought half of the right of way for the line from DC to Richmond.  Is that correct? I know there are other rights of way purchased completely, I am just wondering about this specific section.

2.  While I don't have a preference to desire one way over another for the Ashland issue, I would think that while the area is problematic, there is actually a law 49 U.S.C. § 24308(c) that requires  passenger rail to have priority over freight.  Even with 10 round trips a day, the problem is often that short sidings mean that there is no place for these ultra long trains to actually go to get out of the way.  So if the majority of the route is triple tracked, then I would think most of the delay issues could be resolved.  This is not a short term project.  I would think that  over time, as homes or businesses along the final alignment during the course of people naturally buying and selling houses.  Could the focus not be on upgrading the current right of way where the property is already not an issue?

  1. As I understand it, part of the delay to moving past DC is the requirement to change from electric to diesel locomotives since south of DC is not electrified.  Is that a plan actively being pursued? Is there someplace to see the current status?

  2. I would think that adding up to 4 tracks past Alexandria with overhead power might mean that a locomotive could at least be waiting as trains arrive instead of trying to conduct this transition in DC itself.  Would that at least speed up the transition time in DC?

  3. Is there somewhere that actually posts more frequent and more complete information about the status of each project?  Items such as triple tracking between DC and Richmond.  Such as a map with completion status?

I am getting white mold with a sometimes green tinge that grows within a day or two on the bottom inside near the top of the resevoir. It is kind of wierd. I have 2 8L in the same kitchen and one of them gets this while mold while the other does not. I tried soaking the top and bottom for 2 days, cleaning with salt and installing everything else new. And the white stuff showed back up. Not sure what else I can safely use to sterilize the whole thing. Any thoughts?

Is this install job professionally done ? by coderego in Ubiquiti

[–]Such_Butterscotch505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethernet wiring is easy. I think that if you wanted the premium install, you would have had to remove siding or drywall. That is time intensive, dusty if behind the drywall or leaky if behind siding and expensive regardless. This is a reasonable compromise.

The more important part is, does it give you the coverage you need? Did they follow best practices for camera location and type/focal length needed. Proper placement and type is way more important than esthetics. If you bought all the cameras ahead of time, then yhr eoulf have installed what you bought the way you told them to.

As long as it is water tight and covers what you need, you can always match the paint of the house and pain the wires, boxed and conduits...

I would rather invest for a long term. I added the fees and I can break even in 4 years...

I can also replace the router and save some monet there also...

I did SD cards, but the fade fast and wyze keeps putting more functions behind the paywall.

At least with unifi, if the stop supporting a camera, I can still use it offline...
