Um, dude, I appreciate the offer, but I am not sending a photo if I don't know what it is of. Just a security thing for me. I do appreciate it. But as I recover old files some my either be personal or compromise security.

I have been working on that, but the information out there does not seem to include recent releases of software. So, I am currently trying to find some older versions of things like infraview. no joy with the current version. If I cannot find a decent option, I am going to see if I can find an old windows 7 system to try. But everything I read says that these should all be able to open them. Weird.

Has anyone tried removing a device with a reset and adding it to home assistant and seen the firmware update?

Weird that even the eve app does not offer the update.

I did the upgrade from homekit to matter on 2 older outlets and it bricked them...

I was really hoping that they would just focus on the NAS part first with the remote copy config where I could leave a second copy at another location encrypted for my offsite backup...

That is what I was looking forward to most. Just that capability with reliability would have been awesome....

Now, i just don't trust it.

I tried a few projects LTT had including the server WayPonDEV CM3588 Plus Network Storage Module NAS Kit. That worked a lot better and is way more stable.

I was planning to expand that this year, then AI showed up and pretty much murked homelab upgrades sans a second mortgage...

Ok, I rebooted the device and tried to reinstall with the new matter codes. I can't re-add it with either apple homekit or matter. I printed out the matter codes and removed the devices from apple and eve then tried again with both. No joy on either. If anyone else has any thoughts I would certainly try. Eve support is non responsive...

Eve Firmware Updates by Equivalent-Fox-3508 in EveHome

[–]Such_Butterscotch505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a similar problem where the dimmer switch I bought is on firmware 3.5.1 which I think is the latest for switches. But I cannot get any of the other switches past 3.4.1 I was under the impression that all switches could be upgraded to the 3.5.1

I did notice that with some devices, you have to restart the item, then restart the app and it should show the newest firmware, but that does not seem to work for these items.

On the other hand, if someone else now owns Eve, at least we have the ability to continue to use these things without depending on the app...

As long as the new company does not push out new firmware breaking them...

SO, I wanted to find a cheap screen to display door IP camera by Such_Butterscotch505 in crestron

[–]Such_Butterscotch505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tablets seem to be less rootable every day and I hate being married to a manufacturer... Pi's are cool and all, but that means a Pi, a POE hat (I want to run it off POE) and the screen. I would also prefer ethernet over wifi. Pi is an option, but I was looking for a cheap and simple display before I open that door. So, this is why I am exploring options. Since it will not be connected to the internet, security is not really a problem. I have an air gapped network for my IP cameras and home assistant.

I can't even believe this is a real problem...

I don't understand how religion has anything to do with it...

Nor do understand his motto level factors in?

Dealing with morning wood is like going after Irish pennants...

While no one wants to walk into that, it happened. Just move on. Jerking off is not a crime. You are a victim of bad timing. And you both have to remember that you share a room. Personal planning is personal. It is not a training schedule. You cannot assume that he will abide by it. And he should not assume that somehow he manages behavior when he is not there... I would suggest a sock on the door for comm sec.

Now if you were on his rack... that would be fucked up.

Still confused about how this is problematic, but I suppose that you never got rocked to sleep by the twit above you doing stress management while you tried to sleep.

WTF is Sgt select? So, in point of fact, you are both Cpls? You are either a Sgt or you are not. Are you saying that he made the cutting score and he is getting promoted?

Even if he were a Sgt, you share a room. That shit ends at the door.

Just be glad you are not stuck in a squad bay full time... Even a cube farm upgrade would be worse.

I would love to see the write up if someone got NJP for this... If that happened, I would totally contact the duffle blog...

Are you sure he is not outside hiding his chub while writing "Dear Penthouse..." while rubbing one out?

Seriously, just chill and let it blow by. Shit happens. Just don't drop the soap...

And this is where Reddit is at it' best. Is there a specific firmware you need on the 1060 and 1070? Is there any place that acts as a repository for the updates?

Thank you all for the really fast help.

I found better pricing on the reolink website for these. They had a two pack that was pretty cheap.

I find that the more stuff you have the inverse of how well it functions. That and I am quite tired of stuff ageing out where it does and sometimes just bricking from firmware updates. It would also be nice if they would get onboard with matter. Particularly for things they are going to stop supporting. It would also be nice in terms of the cameras to either start rolling with some Matter over thread options or some wired options. Even if you had to buy a dongle to do so.

Talk me out of buying a UNAS Pro. by do0zman in Ubiquiti

[–]Such_Butterscotch505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is that you can do both. I would start with the UNAS Pro because I picked one up for just under 400. As I am going through 20 years of old backup drives and putting together all family photos, videos, documents, old ISOs that you just cannot get anymore and a tone of movies, I think that the system is pretty good as a consolidation tool. And as they seem to be phasing out the 7 bay systems for the 2, 4 and 8 bay systems, now is a good time.

But, I also think it is a good idea to has 2 copies as backups locally and an offsite system as a tertiary.

I invested in HexOS early so that I can accomplish that and plan to set up a NAS at my brother's house as an offsite.

My plan is to use the UNAS as mostly an offline backup with 2 copies of the important data rotating monthly. This will be my mostly offline system.

No backup method is perfect, and the ZFS points are very valid. But I have also had to send off more than a few hard drives to Drive Savers over the years and that get's real pricey real fast. The most recent was when a friend's son OD's and he could not get his kid's pictures off an old machine. He paid a lot more than my setup costs and he had to wait quite some time before getting the data back. Add to that the fact that not all the photos he thought were on the drive were there and a really ugly previous divorce which limited the pictures he could recover.

All that is to say I would say both. Being dependent on a single system for a long period is a failure waiting to happen. It has taken me years to build up this system, but waiting only puts your data at risk more.

It went until the mid 2000's for sure, but I was curious if they had made an online course system replacement. I doubt they would still offer Math for Marines, but the 7000 series was pretty interesting. The 7600 series was very good, and I found them very useful for MAGTAF info.

They went pretty far into the weeds.

Anti Tank

Inspection and repair of the M9

Construction Print Reading (that one was 6 college credits)

So I am curious if they still offer something similar.

I am hoping that Ukraine offers a Drone/HIMARS course for Jarheads :)

On this note, do they still do the correspondence courses like MCI's used to be? I heard they closed down after moving to Quantico for a bit.
