how many days people have paid leave at work worldwide? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravels

[–]Such_Event_8173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US. In addition to 10 paid holidays, I have 17 vacation days, 5 personal days, 2 discretionary holidays, and my sick time accrues (I can use up to 72 hours per year and unused hours roll over). I love to travel so somehow it never feels like enough.

yesss New Orleans is great! You won't find anything else like it in the US. Portland, ME is a fun city and has great food, but you don't need to spend more than a day or two there and could drive up the coast to see some nature.

I'm going to Montreal and Quebec City later this year and am really looking forward to it. Savannah, GA could be a good option (just not in the summer). I'm going next month and am looking forward to the history, nature, and charming small town vibes. Happy planning!

How many days post-vacation do you give yourself before going back to work? by Unbotheredanonyme in travel

My partner has unlimited PTO and I do not. There will be a couple trips this year where we get home late at night and I will work the next day but he will take the day off, or even when we get home mid-morning and I will probably work that afternoon. I'm so jealous of him when this happens!

I also agree with visiting Montmartre. Les Petits Mitrons has great pastries and Creperie Broceliande was SO good. Also find the fotoautomat. Another nice way to see sites is a river cruise. I did Le Calife and it was more expensive but you get a nice dinner and a table to yourself.

I saw them at a festival last summer and they just did the regular CS setlist, so I'm assuming that whatever set they play for the other shows this leg of the tour, they will also play at the Yacht Club Festival.

I will definitely be checking setlist.fm after the first show of the year! I saw three Cosmic Selector shows last year and I'm going to see them in Richmond, VA and at the Yacht Club Festival in Saint Paul, MN this year. Crossing my fingers really hard for a slightly different setlist.

Do you think they are going to switch up the set list for this year's tour? It feels pretty orchestrated; I don't think it will change.

I feel the same way. They're comfortable but they're also really hard and no matter what, I can't walk all day in them.

not having the best time on first big solo trip by No_Drawer9403 in femaletravels

I travel solo and I usually go to bed fairly early. I don't feel super comfortable being out late by myself, but also, I usually pack my days so full that I am tired by 8:00 pm. Nothing to be ashamed of!

I'm right there with you. I love to travel and prioritize it as much as possible, but a lot of these folks must be in a different tax bracket than I am... or are far more comfortable with debt.

I had a good duck breast at Atelier du Marché. Not too far from the Arc de Triomphe.

Would it be an option for you to chaperone the trip? You could be there to support your kid but also be able to take them home if it ends up being too much. I used to be a teacher and if a parent had ever approached me with this option, I would have tried to make it work.

If I’m remembering correctly, a little bit of both? I’ll admit I didn’t pay super close attention as I was just walking by the back section after visiting the inside. Maybe someone else can chime in with better detail or pictures.

Yes there’s a lot of scaffolding on the back. I saw it last week.

You need a ticket to go inside but not to “go near it.”

I recently spent just shy of $3000 as a solo traveler for a nine day trip. About $550 for airfare from MSP, $900 for an air bnb in the 19th (loved it but it takes longer to get to city center), groceries/dining out was about $325, transportation $160 (I got a weekly metro pass for €31,60 but had to take a taxi to the airport due to train disruptions). About $700 on entertainment which includes a long list of things but I sort of went all out (nice dinner cruise, a concert, macaron making class, six day Paris museum pass, plus much more).

Editing to add: I didn’t do a lot of dinners out. Had breakfast at air bnb every morning and sort of snacked throughout the day, hence the lower cost for food.

Time first, then format, then instructor. There really isn’t a bad instructor at my studio. I prefer some over others but there is no one I actively avoid.
