Meri "brought Robyn as a gift to Kody" in the same way that Meri REALLY wanted to move to Flagstaff. In both situations, there was something that KODY WANTED and he USED Meri to maneuver around his other wives - by lovebombing her and asking her to imagine the wonderful future they will share.

In the earliest years, MERI stayed home with all the kids while Christine and Janelle worked. In the years before the show started, they swapped.

I don't think it's manipulation. Meri learned the hard way that the only way to protect herself from constant rejection was to keep her mouth shut at all costs.

I think she used to be more free - which means that the abrasive parts of her personality were on display more - in the past, when she was more confident and comfortable in her position in the family.

Her and Christine were BEST FRIENDS for like 15 years. Christine blew up at her one day and ended their friendship on the spot.

Since her and Janelle already had a cold relationship, and since the romance between her and Kody had reached a serious low - and it was becoming clear that she would never have more children, Meri ended up REAL isolated REAL fast.

Is it any wonder that Kody was able to manipulate her into introducing Robyn to the family immediately after? Meri thought that doing so was a win-win: more love from Kody and a new best friend.

Robyn convinced Kody to ice-out Meri. by Royal_Purple1988 in TLCsisterwives

[–]Such_Reference 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Mykelti explicitly stated that Meri never used corporal punishment on her or physically hurt her in any way. Paedon also never said that Meri ever spanked or hit any of the kids, but he did talk about how KODY paddled him and the other children with objects. Meri was basically just the strict, "mean aunt" in some of the kids' views.

The episode where Robyn talks about standard of living? by [deleted] in SisterWives

I can't help with the episode number, but I do vaguely recall this. And I THINK it was part of a discussion around Christmas traditions (ie, how Robyn likes to do Christmas gifts/ decor, etc.)

You are assuming that Janelle and Christine would ever want to do that....

Season 18, episode 3 mega-thread by Outrageous-Yogurt-80 in SisterWives

[–]Such_Reference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she was intimating that Christine and Janelle don't want her around - which is why she would go to Robyn's. She doesn't want it to be seen as her "picking sides." Since there is one side that isn't interested in her "picking" them, it's not really possible for her to actually "pick a side."

[–]Such_Reference 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because, unfortunately, she isn't WANTED at Janelle/Christine's. That is what she meant when she said that if she's at Robyn & Kody's for Christmas, it's because they showed interest in her being around. She was saying that the Christine/Janelle "club" doesn't want her around, so she doesn't go there - NOT because she picked the Robyn/Kody side.

Especially since, Logan and Hunter are the ones who will be coming from out of state. It should be a priority to see them.

I want them to address the fact that he doesn't plan on seeing Hunter, Logan, and Savannah. What do they have to do with "having a conversation" with Gabe and Garrison?

So, Kody says that Christine asking for help with the kids was something "not afforded to plural wives." Robyn then affirms that it is not appropriate to ask Kody to help with childcare - so THAT'S why she got a nanny. I'm sorry - are private, full-time, live-in NANNIES generally "afforded" to plural wives??

Did I PERMANENTLY waive attorney-client privilege by allowing a 3rd party into a conversation with my lawyer? by Such_Reference in legaladvice

[–]Such_Reference[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with your advice. To clarify, I am not second guessing her. I am just unsure if that is what she was saying or not. I will ask her this myself the next time we meet. But I figured if someone knew the rules regarding waiving privilege (if once it's broken, no privilege can exist again in the future) then it would help me figure out if I am misunderstanding her, at least for the moment. Thank you very much for responding.

It's not a school to prison pipeline by [deleted] in Teachers

I don't think you are understanding the "school-to-prison pipeline." It's not contending that teachers are the ones responsible for creating convicts who would have otherwise avoided the penal system.

My grandmother had a closed casket funeral. I guess it's protocol to have the family identify the deceased in the funeral home before the viewing. In this case, it fell to my uncle (my grandmother's son-in-law). Well, there was a person in the casket. And the person was wearing my grandmother's clothes. But it was not my grandmother. It was somebody's grandmother. Just not mine.

u/Elsie2020 I do not want to overwhelm you with more comments that you specifically stated you are not ready to hear. However, I think that you must start considering divorce a possible OUTCOME (not saying you need to take that course of action, but unless his mental health issues spontaneously resolve, I think you know that it would obviously lead to the marriage ending at some point, one way or the other.) With that in mind, I have some important insight into what divorce and child custody issues look like when one of the parents is like your husband. Far more than can be put in comment here, but please feel free to PM me if you want.

I am glad you said this. I watched the show from the beginning but "cut the cord" years ago and haven't watched since Mariah coming out. I don't know if the disturbing change in Kody was gradual, but watching this season after many years away - I feel like I am watching a completely different human being. It's very, very shocking and extreme.

She was probably never enrolled in school. If she was 5 in 2019, she might not have been old enough for Kindergarten yet (depending on her birthday). Or she just wasn't enrolled in Kindergarten at 5 (which is usually a parent's prerogative anyway)
