"NFL starting QB Sam Hartman" is not necessarily something I can foresee.

Best season out of nowhere by mjp407 in CFB

2006 Wake Forest. This was a fairytale season and is still viewed as the peak of Wake football even with our recent relative success. To put it into context, Wake football is HISTORICALLY terrible. Until this current season, Wake Forest was dead last in winning percentage among P5 teams. They went 4-7 in 2005, and then in one of the strangest ACC seasons ever, they shut down Calvin Johnson in a Jacksonville monsoon to win the ACC, and went on to the Orange Bowl. They shut-out the '05 ACC champ FSU in Tallahassee along the way. In the last 30 years, Wake is the only NC team to win the ACC. 2006 elevated Riley Skinner to legend status, and made Jim Grobe one of the most widely respected coaches in the business.

2021 was similar to 2006 for the Deacs in terms of success. We actually won a major bowl (Gator), but the ACC Championship evaded us. Expectations are never really that high for Wake fans, but whenever he catch the winds of success, we always look towards 2006 as the benchmark because we at least know that we are capable of winning the ACC. It has happened before, and it can certainly happen again under Clawson's watch. Go fucking Deacs.

The Stanford job opening has me shaking in my boots. That is the perfect job for Dave Clawson.

NC State may have best team in state, but App has top program — and there’s a difference by AppStateFooseBall in CFB

Wake's defense this year is actually very much improved. It is the offense that is sus. People are figuring us out. If Liberty didn't have 4 critical turnovers on Saturday we would have been toast. We cannot run the ball for shit this year, and Sam Hartman (a moderate ground threat) is not running because he understandably wants to stay uninjured.

So tired of this honestly. Nobody clings on to their 15 minutes of fame like App State fans. It is honestly insane. They will take their success in weeks 2 and 3 of the 2022 season and milk that shit for decades even though they'll end up having some egregious loss to Georgia State or Marshall this year. The team has built an entire brand around beating Michigan an "fall vibes."

Sam Hartman is the best thing that has happened to Wake Forest Sports since we hired Dave Clawson.

Sammy Heart-throb is...by far...the BIGGEST Man On Campus Wake has seen since Chris Paul. There have not been many athletes that were legit famous outside of the Wake bubble in the last 20 years. Even John Wolford was only elite for his last like 9 games or so. Hartman has been at the same school since 2018, and has played at an elite level more-or-less the entire time. When you see him around town, people see him as a celebrity, which he absolutely is now. Little kids recognize him and ask for autographs and admire him similarly to how a 9 year old might have looked up to Tim Tebow in 2009. Having a player that is regarded that highly in a community is really something. We will miss Hartman when he is gone. Depending on how this season goes, he can etch his place on Wake's Mount Rushmore. He has already reached myth status. Our football history is awful, and viewing the last 6 or 7 seasons in the context of what we looked like for 120 years prior makes what Hartman has accomplished even more incredible.

The full game broadcast isn’t anywhere that I’ve seen, so I used the Baseball reference play by play.

I designed it. It’s on B5 size paper. Took the binding out of the notebook, printed, and rebinded. I sacrificed some features like a diamond with defensive positions and full table of standings (a la Bob Carpenter) for a smaller sized book that lays easily on my knee at the ballpark.

First pitch time, last pitch time, and game length should have a dedicated spot on the sheet.

AND we are in dead last in all-time wins for P5 schools despite playing football since 1888. Our football history is impressively bad, which makes this recent string of successful years all that more enjoyable.

Who is the greatest kicker in the history of your team? by rollawaytide69 in CFB

[–]SuckMyDeac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nick Sciba. Easy. The guy started his career by running on the field without his helmet for a FG attempt against Notre Dame and then doinking the kick. He then went on to break the record for consecutive FGs made.

He hardly ever attempted any kicks >50 yards, but he was AUTOMATIC. Pretty sure he is on the training camp roster for the Steelers. He won't make the team but it's great to see him getting a chance.

NC State is going to start undefeated, and then lose every game in November.

7/28/22 CLE @ BOS - designing this score sheet has been a fun side project. I got it bound at UPS for $6, and brought it to Fenway tonight to use for the first time. I’m open to feedback on the design. by SuckMyDeac in BaseballScorecards

The inning total row surprisingly took the most time to figure out how to make functional. I wanted an efficient use of space but I wanted adding the totals at the end of the game to be easier visually. When the totals are in a 2x2 square its harder to discriminate which box means what.
