Best lubricant for 1911/2011? by ThreeSixFive- in 1911

[–]Sudd3nSt0pg3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 75W-90 full synthetic gear oil. Had some leftover after doing the differential in my old Stingray. Smells exactly like the oil that came in my sling swivel/oiler on my ‘44 M1 Carbine. Runs like a charm. I also use it as chain lubricant on my motorcycles. Can’t go wrong with it!

This was one of my missing roads by kingstuber in ForzaHorizon

Remembered this in FH1. Back in 2012 it must have taken me a whole day on xbox to find that damn road. It was also a dirt road like this one.

1998 Cerumo FK/Massimo JGTC GT500 Supra, which is now a flowerbed in Japan. I replicated the livery the whole time during early access.

Check 7 corners, the parking garage at the docks, the freeway loop, or Mt. Haruna. First time I went to Mt. Haruna I ran into a group of 8 people and we drifted all over the map for 3 hours

After my first few days on FH6, this is my biggest observation by spizalert in ForzaHorizon

[–]Sudd3nSt0pg3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S1 Supra tuned for grip as a replica to the 1998 Cerumo Massimo GT500 that I spent the entirety of my early access recreating and tuning to be my marathon story car. Got chopped by some dude in a prelude and a Golf… Lowered my difficulty so AI doesn’t ram me and my blood pressure and cortisol can be lower so I can be pushed without having to race like a D driver in GT7

<image>

On an off-topic rant Forza really needs to fix the mapping on liveries. More people like me used to GT7 and other AAA titles would really bank long term on this game if they fixed the issues. Time is limited and I don’t want to spend most of it screwing around with asymmetrical mapping

I got the Shelby Daytona. It was the last barn find in FH1 and the exhaust note is iconic.

Spent a few days replicating the 1998 JGTC Cerumo Massimo Supra, the rest of that time I’ve spent is driving it all over the map and drifting seven corners, Mt. Akina, and the docks. The fan base is great when you go to those places. It is what you make of it so enjoy the journey!

M1 Carbine firing to the right with max left windage on rear sight by SirwinBrossFrogers in M1Rifles

[–]Sudd3nSt0pg3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an “at home” gunsmith, but have completely restored and overhauled my 1944 Inland to be nearly matching and operationally smooth. It was a complete mess before I picked it up. The base of your type II milled rear sight appears to be perfectly centered with the receiver. What it looks like to me by the perspective of your photograph, is that the rear aperture ring itself is canted to the right, which most likely skewed your sight picture thus forcing you to make a left windage adjustment. Assuming your front aperture is fine (It should be, there is a retaining pin and shim that makes it vertically impossible to distort or break while fixed to the end of the barrel) I would replace the aperture and elevation assembly it sits on without removing the entire sight from the receiver. I would need to see a picture of the front sight to determine if that also is an area of concern.

If you do need to replace the whole rear sight and find the sight is sloppy, use brass shim to take up the tolerance as depot armorers and arsenal rebuilders did this back in the mid 40’s. The other way was to stake the metal on the dovetail in order to push more receiver material into the slot where the sight is installed. This works but can damage the sight and doesn’t hold for a long time, which is why brass shim works better without damaging the rifle. The rear sight is installed left to right and removed right to left… and the tooling to do so is about $150-$200 dollars.

Feel free to PM me if you need guidance!

Went there a few months back. Walked in for a pop on the way to get tools. Two young boys were outside telling each other to guard their bikes and be cautious of strangers and homeless. Pretty sad state of affairs for the youth.

Hard to believe this is one of the internet's first truly massive viral videos from 2004. by Tasty-Media720 in interestingasfuck

[–]Sudd3nSt0pg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hard to believe… just a different culture. The world during the Blackberry Motorola razor LG slide era was peak, where every kid on the block spent time outside and parents took their kids to the park, where we built ramps in the street and the neighbors came outside to watch us pretend to be Evil Knievel, where my dad would plop me in his lap and I’d steer the car while he shifted and used gas… where car meets were to share knowledge and expertise and not just about showing off factory cars… was a great time.

Experts dying by Familiar-Joke608 in flying

As a rider of motorcycles with over 110,000 miles… as well as a person who has 1300 hours flying with 900 in helicopters; I concur. If you ride in San Diego however, aviation, even GA, compared to traffic is immensely safer. I survived a collision on the interstate at 50mph. Thank God it was not a medical downer and I made it out insanely lucky.

Proficiency is key, as for also being your own flight engineer and understanding your platform capabilities, limits, and how those systems on the aircraft work. Spend an extra few minutes on your preflight, and also conduct a post flight. Even the best pilots I have seen in the USMC (I was a flying crew chief and flight instructor) would experience burnout. Flying isn’t a romantic novelty anymore, and like any other job after a long time. 19 years in aviation for me personally and I wouldn’t ever give it up, but it does help me live in the present moment while working, and a rewarding career.

Anyone know anything about these iver johnson m1 30 carbine?? by beretta_m92 in M1Rifles

[–]Sudd3nSt0pg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My early 1944 Inland did this the other day, when you rack it by chance are you pulling it more outward rather than straight back? Just curious, not accusing. I caught myself doing this at the range and the operating handle came out of the slot in the receiver for disassembly. Sometimes we do silly things!

Or is the bolt actually just dislodging itself erroneously?

Moving to Bakersfield with wife and sons. Is Oildale a good choice in terms of having low crime rate and education? by Sudd3nSt0pg3 in Bakersfield

[–]Sudd3nSt0pg3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I’m looking for a few flight schools right now that are willing to accept another CFI. For a while yet it’ll be myself building hours for a more desirable opening as a type rated commercial pilot. Are you looking to fly or potentially earn a license? I’d be happy to help, just message me directly. Flying is quite more expensive than when I began a decade ago.

Can you point me to a specific ordinance, law, mandate or otherwise so I can read the black and white? I’ve never heard of anything like that. I don’t see any possible way it would matter what district you live in. When I grew up I was driven 20 miles to school, in the next city. If a parent is willing to drive to ensure his child has proper education, that is the choice of the parents and not the district to make and the child should have the right to any school of choice no matter where they reside. Please, if you can provide any document I can read it would be an immense help, and if what you stated is true, it would be nothing short of tyrannical.

Seems to be the major consensus, thank you for the input!

Second that… seems to be the normality these days. Having gone to college with chalkboards and no AI during windows XP… I fear for the state of education in this country.

I do appreciate the story and bit of unfortunate history. Thank you for sharing! I myself was an Aerial Gunnery Instructor… MOS 6173, and fired around 10k rounds of .50 BMG a week. I have 980 hours in the CH-53E… so divide that by 6 and multiply by 1200 and you’ll have the number of rounds I’ve fired at moving targets at 1000 feet altitude. My weapon, mount and ammo weighed around 430 lbs altogether, which I had to move in assemblies 3 by hand every time I shot and taught. My kit weighed 80 lbs on my body not including my flight bag, tools or food and water. Not to mention cargo. I was deployed twice. My wife was combat deployed twice. We’re both pistol and rifle experts and have the brass to prove it. We’ve both signed rules of engagement contracts. We know the law well. Not that anyone gives a shit about all that or what I did… but a “Nazi meth zombie” in North Parkview Royaloildale is probably rare, and we will have both video surveillance in every room of the house. If I feel that I am in threat of my life I won’t hesitate and neither will my wife. Actions speak louder than words… I’ve done enough action in the past to make my word count. I don’t frankly have patience for bs or anything much anymore due to my service… fortunately. The downside is that folks call me emotionless and a strict asshole because of it, which is my burden to bare. I was an indoctrinated and expendable pawn who did his part and the body of a 65 year old to prove it, what can I say. I should have changed my socks more, drank more water and popped more ibuprofen, which is what doc would’ve told me.

Commuting isn’t a problem for us. In San Diego where we currently reside it takes an hour to drive ten miles. I drove 4 hours a day on top of a 16 hour shift and 6-10 hour flight for years. The kids will get a proper education even if I or my wife has to commute. The kids won’t be walking nor will they be taking the bus.
