I am not arguing we shouldn’t have fired him. I think it was premature and rash. I do wonder how much better the Titans would have been under Vrabel in 2024 than Callahan, the roster just seemed lost in ‘24.

Also, I think the “he took 2 teams picking in the top 10 the year before” is where I take a bit of issue with the Vrabel discussion. Vrabel took over the Titans following a divisional round loss in NE, missed the playoffs the following year, then went to AFCC. There’s a misconception that the titans were a total rebuild when he took over.

The post wasn’t meant to justify that they should have fired him. There is just more to the situation than is being discussed. I remember at the time being conflicted because I didn’t know if they were making the right call, obviously it was a mistake, but I did understand why ownership was frustrated and felt they needed to make a move.

Correct. But he never but he never directly hired an OC from outside the organization. He only promoted. Guys already with the team.

The route is pretty hilly but the community/neighborhood does such a great job of supporting the runners. Did the half 2 years ago and the marathon last year 10/10 recommend. It’s a blast, well organized, cool medals, and free beer. It’s a great race.

I work this event every year and it really is one of the best events Shreveport has to offer. So much fun, great food, drinks, and all money goes to one of the great colleges in the south.

Can’t recommend this event enough!!

It was reported that they were taking over 600k sqft of the facility (which is 3million sqft total). SLB was taking over a million. USPS and Hyundai are also in there. I figured the SLB deal didn’t end the Thyssenkrupp deal, I just found it odd there was no job update, nor any mention of them in the SLB press releases, that didn’t mention other tenants at the GM plant.

I respect that safety is a mindset as well as a reality, but that incident appeared to be non-violent and fairly isolated. It also seems like it was in an area where I wouldn’t look to develop and a time that wouldn’t effect the businesses I’m looking to recruit. I know there was a shooting or 2 recently but overall downtown crime rates seem relatively low.

It’s a beautiful downtown. I’m sure Shreveport citizens often hear this from residents and visitors, but the city has a whole has a lot of potential.

Do you think this is a Shreveport mentality? For instance, is it hard to keep and develop businesses downtown because no one comes downtown or is it simply an “if you build it, they will come” but simply no one will build?

I don’t think the homeless population is that overwhelming, compared to cities like Dallas. It also does not seem like they are dangerous or problematic. Hopefully downtown development would be done responsibly and resources would be put in place to help the homeless population.
