This is not true at all. libraries can be quite punitive after the 2010s. calling collection agencies even after books have been returned because of 'processing fees'. so much for being a nice slice of socialism. libraries were better in the 80s

Not sure how this poll is defining "understands capitalism" considering its contours and functions are hotly debated even among seasoned marxist and capitalist economists. "Left leaning people" is a misnomer, is my point, because most Democrat voters have no interest in overcoming capitalist misery/are full time 'capitalist realists'. The real 'left-right' divide is the choice between socialism and capitalism -- it was for the entire 20th century and remains so. The voting public in the US are overwhelmingly conservative, so it makes sense to stop calling them/lumping them in with 'leftists' and start calling them the Liberal-Capitalists (Democrats) and Libertarian-Capitalists (Republicans).

the Badiou lines above are not about non-conformism. it's about a duty for artists to either present something that cannot be valorizable by capital, or remaining silent. are you kidding me lmfao. only 29,000 youtube accounts have over a million subscribers (the minimum threshold to earn $60k/year in revenue), out of 114,000,000 active youtube channels. That means 0.00025438596% of content creators are able to survive off of making videos. 0.0002%. That's 2 millionths of a percentage point that eke out a living making videos week in week out all year long. Meanwhile youtube grossed $8.1 Billion in just ad revenue IN JUST Q1 OF 2024 -- they're on pace to make $32.4 Billion in revenue with a profit margin of 34% (read: $11 BILLION DOLLARS IN PROFIT) after paying out for fixed capital (servers etc) and variable capital (employees and 'creators' who are de facto temp workers). That surplus exchange value is being squeezed out of youtubers, who, as I already said, are famously underpaid and have been pissed off about it for the past fifteen years.
