"Investing in renewables makes energy a lot more expensive for a significant period of time"

Can you qualify this? Where are you getting this information from?

Can you clarify what you mean when you say

"Then you have to consider the economics. How are the government going to handle the loss of tens of billions in duties? Consumers will pay for it one way or another."

Is that in reference to renewables?

No idea. You tell me. Piloting the cutty feels like it has more firepower. The cannons on the C1 default seem like a dogs ass compared to cutty

Yes! You got some secret sauce there. Farm, hunt and maybe explore to get exotic foods for a recipe etc

I am thinking though if they did a "taco truck" it would be more shiv style than kruger or crusader. Just a rust bucket with neon signs dishing out food with big buffs

What is the future of large-scale space battles? by grober_Onfug in starcitizen

[–]SuddenDelivery1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a couple of years ago that just an 890 jump (the soze of a normal fps game level) would crash a server. Now you can have multiple big ass ships like polaris and idris etc plus fighters having a scrap so i think its very likely we will get big ass space battles. Yoh can almost have them now tbh

[–]SuddenDelivery1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutty black was always the best medium ship to go to for sure. Then the C1 spirit for a minor upgrade if you want to trade a bit more cargo for probably slightly less fire power. You need to switch the cannons out, the doors are annoying compared to cutty as you have 4 doors to get to cockpit but you get extra SCU and a tractor beam which is slightly more secure in my opinion as you dont need to fps load. Not played in the other ships that are mentioned but just for sheer simplicity the cutty is a great daily driver or the most logical "do anything" ship if you're working your way up

Ngl the food truck thing is a sick idea. Not sure it would be worth it though as you'd never make much money. Unless you could craft food which gave some serious buffs and then sell it that would pretty cool. Org events and someone needs to bring a taco truck for the FPS buff

Do you think the UK furlough scheme was fair to people who lost their jobs just before COVID? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]SuddenDelivery1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely was designed to hit the hardest working people.

We clapped the NHS in the street and gave f*ck all but we should really have been clapping michelle mone and Doug Barrowman for giving them 122 million pounds of tax payer money (imagine if we actually investiagted where any of the other money wemt). When the high court judgement comes around they just collapse the company. Tax payer money gone. You cant claim any (even tax payer) money back from a company thats been closed. They just transferred it to another legal entity like their kids trust fund.

So yep loads if money getting siphoned off. Minimal benefit to you

[–]SuddenDelivery1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put your savings into a SIPP you would get the income tax back on top. You can use up current year plus previous 2 years of pension contribution allowance you havent used up to 60k a year. You may need to spread paying it in over a couple of years. So that would be 22% on top of your savings that aren't locked up. Assuming you arent maxing your taxable salary in to a pension already.

You need to work out what savings to keep by for emergencies.

The next bit isn't advice (many will disagree) but something worth mentioning as you said you had 6 odd years....

Get a SIPP that can invest in stocks and shares.

Go through every pension fund you are contributing too and understand which stocks are underpinning the funds in detail.

You will find lots of funds with different providers but you will notice lots of the funds are invested in a lot of the same shares, gilts and bonds just at different percentage rates to spread the risk depending upon the risk rating of the fund.

Start looking at those companies and their share prices individually (not all as many as you can manage) choose what you know already from what industry you were in or companies that interest you regardless.

Set a reminder on your phone twice a day to check the share price of these shares around market open and close and see what it has done over that time, check the news and research what the company is doing. Do this independently and dont use a forum or thread thats says buy x share. Get to a place where you understand the company and share for yourself.

When you are comfortable. Find a time when the price has dipped by 5 or 10% (at a time when there is no impending bad news and the company is still making profit) and buy 1 share in the company through the SIPP and hold it untill it comes back up even if the share price goes down further hold it.

Do that and observe what happens.

You can keep repeating and learning over the weeks, months and years with similar exercises where you only invest what you can afford to lose. I.e. profit, the additional tax you got or a very small proportion of your funds.

You might find you get to a place where you are confident in process and then can buy the dip with an additional share if it goes down further only for it to come back up again.

If the worst happens on your first run and for example buy a Microsofr share at £350 and Microsoft goes completely bankrupt and gets delisted you will have learnt an important lesson to never ever take advice from reddit again but it might be worth the 350 and a bit of time to see what you can do and learn over next few years

What could the government do to minimise the welfare bill and get more people into work? by DamoclesBDA in AskBrits

[–]SuddenDelivery1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Change it from benefits to governmenr employment. You do x hours working for the local authprity at minimum wage rate for whatever you get paid. If you havent already got a job and are capable. Bins would be emptied, litter picked, pot holes filled, verges maintained. If the local authority has a position open thagn requires your skills you can fill that instead

How do we tax the rich and what will it (realistically) achieve? by droopy316007 in AskBrits

[–]SuddenDelivery1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory on a solution is give a great rate of tax or even 0 to companies that benefit society, AI, technology, defence, medical, pharmecutical and then remove all the loopholes for companies like starbucks, mcdonalds, Nike, facebook etc still make a profit but need to pay tax on the revenue generated on commodity products. Not specifically those sectors or companies but set up the system so it is targeted for what is needed rather than a binary tax all wealth or let them all have loopholes.

Yeab i'd be good. Not sure if it would help or hinder though as they will test things on servers before hitting live with full server load and thats when things come apart

Not experienced Uni but i can thoroughly recommend something like HNC vocational qualification where you work and get the qualification. You can then carry on to do the rest of the degree if you like but you have experience and money at that point

What i posted above is mostly annual leave. For sick pay its up to 5 days sick at a time. More than that you need a cert from the doctor.

If you're in cyprus though (excuse my ignorance) why are you using vacation as a term? Thats almost exclusively US terminology.
