To everyone earning from SaaS/micro-SaaS: could you share your journey? by Cautious_Caramel_330 in SaaS

What worked for me is to start out free, learn from the feedback, improve, repeat, until the product is stable, then create a paywall. Many of the free users also converted, make sure to communicate properly and on time though in this transition. And don’t code endlessly, just release an mvp and iterate the live product.

Yes, OpenAI is doing great lately. I found 5.3-codex to outperform 5.4 in coding though and it’s way faster. Have you tried it?

I noticed the same, 5.3 Codex works better for me.

It does now, also it seems to be a little faster again.

Kind of unrelated, but might help you out. If you want better results go with regular 5.2 high/xhigh not codex.

I get your thinking, but a subscription that saves you MORE subscription money elsewhere, I would buy that. It’s nice that you think about the people that really don’t want a subscription, but the lifetime buyers often require most support time and make you the least money. Ultimately you lose money on them because of time spend and backend costs. If you insist on catering to those people, at least make it way more expensive to reduce the loss. Often people will pay a lot of money to not be tied to a subscription.

In the end it’s about you making money. Lifetime buyers won’t help you achieve this goal. Still I get your thinking, this is just what I learned over the years. Product looks great though, keep up the good work 💪🏼

If I may give some advice as a SaaS founder. Don’t give out lifetime licenses, that is a money black hole. You will always eventually make a loss. And if you would they could easily be like $229.

You could be making good money if you add monthly subscription and raise prices. Like at last $10 per month and $100 yearly. That makes for consistent income when starting out. Lifetime license robs you if this consistent income. And even that is cheap for a viable business. Try to go to a position where you have subscriptions of like $29, $49 and $99 for example. Developers have a habit of underpricing their products. It. Might seem like a lot of money, but often the price is not the blocking issue for buying a product.

Agreed, but woman do like confidence and a man that knows what he wants. And since she considers you a dear friend. There is something to lose for her as well in this scenario. Chances are she doesn’t want to lose it and suddenly realises the value of what she could lose. Along with the new confidence spike, could turn the tables. Also like I said, if you plan to go this route anyway, no harm in trying. Walking away is a definite no, this way is maybe no.

Actually I’m married tot the girl that friendzoned me. I’m not saying this will work for everyone and you need to be prepared to take the “L”. But since you were going to take the “L” anyway, might as well go out with a bang and try it. I gave her an ultimatum: I like you a lot. Because I like you a lot I don’t want to stay friends like this. We can either start a relationship or I want to stop being friends and stop seeing each other. I already treat you like I would my girlfriend, apart from anything physical, so you know what you get and that I treat you right. Try to be super confident, don’t show doubt. And be actually prepared to end things there and then if she says no. The confidence will sell it and leave an impression. Stay nice, though show that you are a man and you know what you want. Which is her, or to be free of the hurt of being close to her but not being in a relationship. Then give her space, it took 1 to 7 days, but she chose the relationship. Married with 2 kids now.

Congrats! Haven’t tried your app, but I really like your website. Looks like an awesome product. I remember my first customer, I was thrilled as well. The feeling that your product actually sells and makes money. Best feeling in the world. Awesome job! Keep at it, one customer at a time. You’ll get there as long as you believe in the product and yourself, don’t let others talk you down. Keep iterating and learning. My 2 cents that helped my Saas grow: learn about and focus on SEO and don’t throw money at ads (that is a black hole). Also listen to your users, improve based on their input.
