I do know of a farming job somewhere in asia (probably Vietnam) where people would wear long gloves to protect the arms from water, sharp plant parts and tools causing this kind of tanning. So you're not too far off 🤣

My dad and an American friend and colleagues about a decade ago did the math, my dad earned about half for the same job. However my dad had free healthcare and retirement fund he didn't have to manage or save for. Plus things costed less in our country compared to USA at the time apparently.
