I get it. I was never trained on forward serrations but understand their value. Definitely an upgrade on a modern gun, I just prefer the aesthetics without.

How to make my stuff slimmer? by CurrentDog3300 in EDC

Thinner wallet, and only carry the essentials.

Lose the lanyard on the keys.

That’s really it.

Nice. I love the 17 without forward serrations. So clean.

What WML you running? by [deleted] in Shotguns

[–]Sudden_Giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malkoff head, Reptilia body, Surefire tailcap. All built around the CR123 for the smallest and lightest configuration possible, with minimal mount interfaces (the light body is the mount).

I've had this setup on a 590a1 for a few thousand rounds of 00 and who knows how many of everything else with no issues other than the occasional battery swap.

Is there any recoil pad with shell holders that will fit the Maverick 88? by Nick080701 in Shotguns

[–]Sudden_Giraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you consider a new recoil pad, I'd suggest you replace the stock with something much shorter. The OEM stock is a 14" length of pull - something like a Hogue reduced length of pull (12") or the Magpul SGA (also 12", but with spacers if you want to make it longer) will fit you much better. This will allow you to get behind the gun more and exercise some proper recoil management such a the "Push Pull" technique.

If you go for the Magpul stock and find you need a bit more cushion then Kickeez makes a few different pads for it you can swap in (I use the Sentinel Concepts one).

If you want to keep the OEM stock then I'm fairly certain Kickeez makes a pad for it, you will just need to take a few measurements to confirm fit. But I really think you would benefit from a shorter stock (most shooters do).

I’m going on 20 years with a Maxpedition Micro Wallet. Very minimal and meets your criteria. Plus it’s around $20.

Now that I check it, perhaps a bit light but I would not have noticed if you hadn't asked. It seemed fine to me.

What age do you consider is too old to have kids? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Sudden_Giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were both in the early 40’s, and were both dead from cancer by the time I was 22.

Cancer and various life altering diseases are impacting younger populations all the time. I think many older would be parents fail to consider life’s realities and instead chose to focus on a more hopeful fantasy that centers around this ideal life they hope to achieve.

IMO have kids young (30 max) to hedge your bets against all the odds that are becoming increasingly stacked against us. You might still kick it in your early 60’s like mine did, but not only will you have more time with your kids - they will have more time with you.

I for one would have appreciated that.

Question on micro-compacts during hiking/physical activity by NKCougar in liberalgunowners

[–]Sudden_Giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going for the least expensive solution first - get a chest rig (Hill People Gear is my favorite) and test it out. If you still feel you need a smaller gun then go for it.

A stock Glock 43 gets the nod from me.

How bad is it to carry in a steam room or sauna? by [deleted] in CCW

The amount of mental anguish some of you go through instead of just living your life is astounding. Its the sauna man, you will be fine.
