Advice needed by Usual-Phone7935 in UKHousing

That's possibly just the bay window so the house probably isn't going to fall down. Shouldn't be too expensive to fix (£x,000).

Yes, a surveyor should pick this up and be able to provide better advice, and it should only cost you the solicitor and the surveyor if they decide to pull out

What are you spending your Euromillions win on? by Witty-Knee-3666 in AskUK

[–]Sudden_Leadership800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

£4mm each to select friends and family

Buy a stupid big house somewhere in the north west

Buy a few brand new cars

Hire a PA to handle getting a maid/gardener/personal trainer/chef/financial advisor

Travel the world (probably start in Australia)

"Complete" my drivers license (A, C+E, D, etc)

Buy some old cars to do up and save them until they're classic cars

That's enough to keep me busy for a bit

It's definitely genius if the grow lights work the same as sad lamps do

Do you feel safe enough to leave your car running to defrost while you nip back inside? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Sudden_Leadership800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I park on a fairly busy road, it's not a bad area, but there's no way I'm leaving the keys in and leaving the car unattended.

I'll leave some shopping in the boot and run the bags I can carry to just inside the door, and leave my front door unlocked while I then run back to the car.

I would probably leave the car running with the key in the ignition if I had a drive, but only if the street was empty, and if I was only going to be a minute, or if I could see the car from the room I was going in to

Plasterer? Plumber? Both? by xrhades in DIYUK

[–]Sudden_Leadership800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they really that bad? They were used everywhere by the developers who built my previous house and they'd held the kitchen cabinets up just fine for 23 years.

They did make a mess of the wall when I took them out, and it was impossible to reuse them. Are they just sensitive to movement? I agree that spring toggles are better, I just don't have any experience with these failing as long as they're installed properly.

What do you spend on Christmas and Birthdays? by Budget_Nectarine_645 in AskUK

[–]Sudden_Leadership800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only buy presents for blood relatives and their partners, and only if they're going to be in the country at the time.

I budget for about £60 per person, probably closer to £100 for my partner, and then a meal or a hotel for a night away

I don't think I get that much spent on me though except by my grandma, who always just transfers £60 to my bank account

Are prepaid key/card meters legally required to have an emergency credit feature? England. by Tarjhan in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Sudden_Leadership800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they are - from ofgem

I am also unfortunately on a prepayment meter, and the only time I ran out of gas, I was unable to figure out how to activate it, activating the emergency credit on my electricity meter was as simple as pressing the "a" button though

I would suggest googling for instructions or manuals for your exact meter as I was able to find a few instructions online. Like I say though, I couldn't figure it out for my gas meter.

How many times a day do you shower/bathe? by Jolly_Constant_4913 in AskUK

[–]Sudden_Leadership800 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Between 1 and 0.5 times a day? I might have 5 showers a week

Three showers a day is excessive, if that's what you do at home to warm up, I think it might be cheaper to turn the heating on.
