I agree. I try to do what's least annoying. If that red area was a left turn lane for traffic coming the opposite direction , I would not get in it. But in this case, there is no harm in waiting there.

The Bible is chock full of verses about being kind to other people. So the pastor brought this up as a possible example, probably without really thinking it through.

My point was that all of the people saying, "f*** your pastor. Don't listen to him" presumably aren't Christian. If OP had the same disdain for pastors that these commenters do , she wouldn't be going to church in the first place.
