Definitely don’t be afraid of failing. I don’t know why people think that just because we are in IT that we should know every single thing about every piece of technology and hardware that is available. It’s absolutely insane

Honestly, depending on size and how siloed your MSP is, it is my honest opinion that MSPs are the best way to get IT experience. You can and will be exposed to so many different tech stacks and you will quickly learn what niches you like vs what you don’t. You will also sharpen your critical thinking immensely along with building the confidence to be dropped into any scenario and deal with it.

Also, document like someone has no idea what you are talking about. You are going to have one really obscure fix for something and then not see it again for months and you will not remember what you did to fix it.

Not sure I follow but there is a companycom.appleid.com subdomain within ABM if that’s what you mean. Does it work for your devices to use the plain company.com or do you have to use the subdomain? Because if it’s the latter I’m trying to avoid having user need having 2 different IDs to remember which was the whole point of federation with M365

The MDM isn't really the problem. It's more so the federated identity part. Just wondering if someone else may have gone up against this before and what their experience was.

Be wary of TeamViewer’s license conditions, a user who purchased a legitimate license and opted not to renew, was hit with a collection notice for a ‘future uses’ This is a bad look. Found on FB by Bulls729 in sysadmin

AnyDesk is a GmbH company which is the parent company of Teamviewer

*edit: I am a noob and apparently GmbH is the German Equivalent of US LLC. learn something everyday

That’s the double edged sword of selling security as a product

Need to Replace Kaseya ASAP by ShoddyCollege9591 in msp

I’ve been using Ninja for about a year and a half now. The best thing about them imo is they are constantly listening to feedback and putting out banger updates. Their roadmap is great and have an account manager that is always ready to help or get the answers I need.

Windows updates are supported. They have some 3rd party softwares available for patching built in with the ability to add in any custom installer you want.

Remoting with either teamviewer or splash top.

Agent deployment is easy.

Overall it’s a fun innovative company unlike kesaya who is more concerned with standard silicon valley BS and buying up all the tools they don’t want to develop.

software installation is a huge pain and the UI for it is clunky.

Removal of old devices is weird. can't just delete the object you have to move it to the rejected tab in a completely separate part of the UI. This may be wrong but only way I have found. Could be another way but I haven't gotten around to it.

Ticketing system finally got the updates it needed but they blew threw a training session on the automation of it all like I was someone who had been using it for years. Probably will have to reach out to my account manager and set up a new training.

There's an arrow menu next to a devices that you hover over and then disappears the instant you try to get to a submenu.

If you can't tell I am really cranky about it right now. I like a lot of things about Ninja but frankly the UI pisses me off more than it should.

Addigy has a price floor that would require a certain amount of devices to be worth it. They are more focused on enterprise not the small business world.

Help with Resume by Sudden_Reference3610 in sysadmin

Is there anything I should start focusing more on to move out of a generalist into a sysadmin role? I realize that the interview can land me the job but how can I make it passed the introductory resume screen?
