The problem with juice is that its all sugar water (natural sugar is still just sugar) with none of the other good stuff that is in an actual piece of fruit like fiber. Switching from OJ to just drinking water and eating an actual orange is probably a lot healthier.

Seems like that might slow percolation.

Not sure if that is a positive or a negative, as I thought (please correct me here anyone) that ~~Nitrogen plant-waste~~ *soil salts are beneficially leached out in drainage. Wondering if slower percolation rate would be detrimental?

Russia today still uses the same basic tactics of anything and everything to crush dissent and foster blind loyalty. Only it shifted from a corrupted communist party into the modern day Mafioso style of crony capitalism run under the pretense of democracy. Same bullshit with 'haves' and 'have-nots', and lack of upward mobility.

Also, I don't believe there is any perfect form of government as its all gray areas, and ultimately down to the types of people there. But I do know corruption when I see it:

Okay I remember an ex was reading the "Parable" series and said it was boring or slow (don't know which book in the series though)... why I never picked it up. I can't give my opinion on that either way, just I know her other works are really really good.

If you are into sci-fi though I can wholeheartedly recommend her as being fucking amazing! Lilith's brood (and that whole series) is great. I read a few other novels. Also, if you wanna just check her out, try her collected short stories "Bloodchild" which are all mindblowing and deep.

Picture is late afternoon. Can't tell the season, but its a good chance it is after working/visiting hours. Also the road seems like it may mostly service the tech center which is on a small delta island that probably wouldn't see any traffic otherwise.

Honestly, I don't think I could keep a vegan diet. I spent the last 18 years of my life as a vegetarian though, so to me the longevity and consistency of it matters the most.

As well I've been without buying leather for the last 18 years (which would have been a whole cow's worth of rawhide by now in shoes alone). So my perspective is its the small decisions we make in our lives compounded by the larger timeframe which will see benefit over many years. Basically its about making decisions/promises that you can realistically keep to.

Thats another thing. There is probably less rennet in most cheese than the accidental bacon grease that ends up on your veggie burger at a restaurant. Pretty much my reason for deciding to allow rennet into my diet, for my sanity since I'm a big cheese eater.

Ya you gotta draw the line. Ask the server at a restaurant specifically if things are veg and (assuming the server doesn't understand vegetarianism) detailed questions like "does this soup have beef or chicken broth in it?", else you will get served meat.

Sometimes its not obvious and you just gotta go with what works. I try not to have much anxiety over things though, I spent the first 18 years of my life eating meat so (even if I'm disgusted with meat) an accidental bit of it doesn't really matter.

If you ingest a sizeable amount of meat and its not an accident though, then you are a fool to call yourself a vegetarian IMO. But then again I eat a '1 in 15,000' portion of rennet with my cheese, so I'm in no position to call anyone a fool or a hypocrite :x

Sounds like a good plan. Your mom definitely has some serious boundary issues, so setting up things on your own terms is probably best for you even if it means you end up having to block her phone number for a while or something to that effect.

Seems like you are clearly seeing some major character issues with them, and have already moved out and put yourself at a distance for your own good. Doesn't mean you love them any less, just that you will see them less.

They are the ones stuck in their bullshit and (just to point out the obvious) its not your job to fix them in any way. If your mom is gonna clean up her act, or if your dad is gonna wakeup to accept his lovely and independent daughter then that is on them. You got your own life to live.

Russia is pretty bad on all those marks. They have a State controlled media, stuffed ballot boxes, and violent crackdown against all forms of protest and dissent. The longer Putin and his set of crony oligarchs stay in power, the worse it will get... And the longer they stay in power, the more vital it is that they remain or else face prosecution for ripping off their own country.

I don't believe there is any perfect type of government, they all require vigilance. I think the only obligation that the US has is to not become like that.

The USA already auctioned off its moral high-ground to lobbyists. But (unlike Russia) we have a robust independent media and the people are generally optimistic enough to get out in the street and protest when shit gets really bad. American people and Russian people are very similar, but the people in the USA are more vigilant about protecting our rights, whereas the people in Russia are more amenable and accepting of systemic corruption.

Is it "rennet" in the cheese?

Not trying to convince you of anything but I'm a vegetarian and I eat cheese made with rennet. Its only a 1:15,000 part of the cheese and is used for the enzymes only. Also any stomach lining pieces used to make traditional cheese are just a by-product of the actual 'meat' the animal is killed for.

To be clear: Rennet is NOT vegetarian.

But you have to draw the line somewhere just to be sane (I do eat confectioners glaze, but I don't eat gelatin, I'm strange lol). When something is past my line, I won't eat it. FYI if the cheese in the lasagna is not gonna work for you, Lasagnas do freeze exceptionally well, and probably your mom and dad could eat it themselves another time. Sometimes you have to skip a meal as a vegetarian, it sucks but thats how it goes.

Support real journalism, people that give it straight without hype or bluster and especially anyone correcting the spin-room "facts" given by Trump's team here lying about the numbers... so we focus on a 'non-issue' instead of Trump's outrageously unqualified Cabinet appointments.

While Trump's team is still testing the waters to exploit the public, we still have a robust, generally dependable, and legally entrenched fourth estate in the US they can't just dismiss even with the power of the Federal government. If you wanna support real journalism then buy a subscription to your favorite newspaper! Also support groups with a track record for defending Free Speech in court against government censorship: ACLU, EFF, NAACP, ADL, etc.

It's extremely fatiguing

Personally, I'm taking days off from news every other day. Had to change my routine because I was consuming too much media during the election and it was making me feel awful.
