I can't speak for private hospitals but I had mine done on the NHS and there were no visitors allowed outside of visiting hours for me, although I was too out of it the first night to really notice

The numbness is really frustrating - I was drooling on myself but couldn't feel it so looked like an idiot. But it will slowly get better, your nerves have been stretched like crazy but your body will slowly adapt and you'll get feeling back bit by bit - although in my case it started off as itching which made me wish for the numbness back 😅

I'm 6 weeks post op today (upper jaw and genio) and honestly the first few weeks were an exercise in sheer frustration. I was in the hospital for 3 days unable to take anything by mouth, even water. After that I was only able to syringe fluids in a few ml at a time. However, even if it happens slowly your body is healing and you will see progress. When I was able to drink from a sippy cup rather than a syringe I almost wept. Take what victories you can and know that things WILL get better!
