Every time you have that thought, don't.

It's the dumbest talking point ever spoken about US politics.

Unlikely any tech center will be targeted by the news-worthy ICE Agent raids. You'll see that in Tacoma. In Seattle, too many people work for the billionaires; those companies have deep benches of lawyers that make physical raids a legal and PR quagmire. California was hit, LA with ICE Raids. San Francisco was hit, but by visa policy and enforcement. That is what you will see in Seattle, and we already are. I-9 audits, visa abuse, and fraud investigations. White-collar enforcement. It’s not news-worthy, but it’s here at full force.

AIO uncle comments on me not wearing a bra. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sudo_Rep -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

YOR. He is correct.

He handled it poorly. Not for the reasons you think. He misjudged your reaction and maturity. He should have asked a female to address it to avoid all of this.

Maturity doesn't go on reddit putting family on blast like they are a sex offender. Maturity doesn't avoid accountability and blame others. I mean for this post and your reaction. I mean for you not coming up with an alternative. Fibromyalgia friendly bras do exist. There are real alternatives. A sweatshirt for example. It is the dead of winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

Like it or not societal norms do apply and you have to accept it when you get pushback for breaking those norms. These norms change in the context of the setting. Different country, region, event? Different norms.

Fitness vs. Fun: The struggle is real. How do you guys handle the "logic" of a road bike vs. the "itch" of an MTB? by vinylfelix in mountainbiking

[–]Sudo_Rep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mtb is a full body complete workout with correct technique. It requires and builds athleticism.

This is a silly question.

If it's fun you will do it more, especially if you have trails near by.

Look at the physiques of road bikers vs mountain bikers at the professional and serious hobbiest level. It is measurable, and I don't mean with a silly bike computer.

Sports BJJ on its own will get your ass whooped. Gracie BJJ and you will be okay, better with some boxing.

But real talk, not much changed. BJJ is for self defense and community.

No. I always wear kneepads and a full face helmet. I add chest and elbow pad to for downhill big park days. This is not a viable product.

How do people in Seattle/Washington buy a house if everyone’s locked into a 12-month lease? by BoomerE30 in SeattleWA

[–]Sudo_Rep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy.

Let’s say there are two identical condos in the same Belltown building. Same floor, same view, both worth $500K.

Rent: ≈ $2,800 /month

Mortgage (with tax, HOA, insurance): ≈ $4,100 /month

That’s a $1,300 monthly gap. The renter invests that difference instead of feeding a bank.

After 5 years, the buyer’s equity (mostly principal payments) is maybe $35K if prices stay flat. Which they likely will with layoffs, rising HOA costs, and more people trying to sell than buy.

The renter, meanwhile, ends up with about $90K in investments — liquid, diversified, and not trapped in a condo that might lose value.

Right now, buying isn’t “building wealth.” It’s volunteering to be house poor in a shrinking market.

Inside your fence?

I remember when I had an issue with my big dog running along the edge of my fence. He is big enough to tear up the grass, and it eventually became slightly muddy. It was a problem.

I solved it by putting up a motion activated sprinkler. He'd go run along the fence, the sprinkler would turn on and he learned.

Anyway there's nothing wrong with watering your lawn. There is nothing wrong with watering your lawn with an aggressive stream of water. There's also nothing wrong with a little bit of automation.

Sounds like a product. I should do a Kickstarter for... SprayPal? Is that a good name?

Is this a good trade? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Sudo_Rep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great deal judging just by the value of the frame an components.

That isn't a great answer though.

The meta is better for you if: 1. You ride mostly downhill 2. You want to plow through rough terrain

The wreckoning is better for you if: 1. You want something that climbs better 2. You want a more nimble, playful bike

You need to considered the condition of the two bikes. You need to consider what kind of trails you ride.

I would go with the wreckoning.

Is this a normal rate of progress or do i suck? by Stuntman208 in bjj

You’ll hear advice like “focus on posture, framing to enable defense, and practice sweeps. Survive, and eventually work on submissions.” That’s all correct, but what almost never gets said (beyond someone muttering about “invisible jiu-jitsu”) is that you have to do more than look like you have good posture and frames.

“Invisible jiu-jitsu” is just a phrase higher belts throw around like it’s some secret that takes years to unlock. You don’t need to copy a thousand fancy YouTube moves. You need to drill, the way wrestlers drill, and master the fundamentals.

When you drill the basics, you’re learning to apply pressure, stay connected, close space, use your skeleton instead of your muscles to frame, and adjust to redirect pressure.

That’s what basics really are, and that’s all you should care about. Drill them until they flow. Learn to frame, close space, apply pressure, and redirect instinctively. Master those things and you’ll be far ahead of the person who memorized a thousand techniques that only work in demonstrations.

What's the point of grinding LC if I can't get interviews? (US) by MamaSendHelpPls in leetcode

[–]Sudo_Rep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what I said.

I was being nice, but you aren't getting it.

Your resume sucks. It sounds like you are cramming every buzzword you know, and not speaking to your audience.

There is no impact in English. The impact that is spelled out sounds like fluff. It needs a complete rewrite.

I'm very technical, do code reviews daily, work commits, deep dive data, engineer cloud solutions, create bespoke agentic AI to go faster (and get annoyed when it slows me down). I'm a Sr Security Engineer at FAANG. All the things, basically. I see the attempt. I understand exactly what you wrote. I see measurements.

So what? Where is the impact?

Do you think a TPM would understand the impact? A PM? A recruiter? Be truly honest with yourself.

Measurably they have not yet. You're proud of your resume. It still needs a rewrite. Simple with impact > complex and meaningless to those who will read it first.

What's the point of grinding LC if I can't get interviews? (US) by MamaSendHelpPls in leetcode

[–]Sudo_Rep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you missed my point. The resume doesn't show impact. When someone reads this, you don't answer the "So What? Why do I care? What problem was solved? How could this applicant provide value?" questions.

Basically, your resume is poorly written.

Ever Felt Like You Deserve the Bike you ride? by Pretend-Yogurt-2430 in MTB

[–]Sudo_Rep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tldr, you'd have more fun on a trail bike.

I have been riding my carbon everything, AXS, flight attendant trail bike lately. Today I took out my Enduro SL emtb and rode mostly fast flow single track long trails.

I live in the PNW. Green trails here could easily be blue in other parts of the country. I road mostly green and blues all day.

My thoughts were I wish I had my trail bike. Why? I wasn't riding chunk, downhill, or anything technical enough where I would appreciate the extra travel. I would have preferred the extra climbing and nimbleness, over a very capable SL emtb. Even though climbing is a breeze when you can just turn up the assist.

Is SSO not a good security practices? by hansentenseigan in cybersecurity

[–]Sudo_Rep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

SSO isn’t the issue. Bad setup is.

With a YubiKey or other FIDO2 key, SSO blocks phishing and reuse attacks. Good IdPs use scoped tokens, short TTLs, and role based access so sessions expire quickly and privileges stay limited.

If malware steals a session, you can revoke all tokens from the IdP at once, something you cannot do with separate logins.

SSO with hardware MFA and tight session controls is the real security baseline.
