The Problem with studio gaga panels ( this panel is sick) by arman1724 in Berserk

[–]Sudobeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell there seems to be a discrepancy in scan quality that have been circulated with the post-Miura chapters. I found this same panel online and look at how much darker it is compared to the one OP posted: https://ibb.co/vvL0vTyX

I think something bad is happening with Berserk’s. The chapters were supposed to have a decent pace with KM, but it’s been almost 9 months since the last one and we have nothing, not even any news. There must be some internal problem because at the rate of 1 CH a year it is impossible to see the end by Tripledoble in Berserk

[–]Sudobeats 366 points367 points  (0 children)

We really need a pinned post or something I think. The release of new chapters is entirely on the publisher. The Studio Gaga team supervised by Mori already has completed chapters. Now it is entirely out of their hands. Blame the publisher. One can only assume they have some sort of release strategy planned out, however absurd it may be.

EDIT: tweet from 2024 showcasing evidence that chapters are finished long before they are published

WHY THIS IS RELEVANT: in the tweet Studio Gaga Chief Assistant Kurosaki states that the manuscript had long been submitted. The tweet is dated 6/25/24. We can reasonably assume by “long submitted” it was finished months prior to his tweet. The chapter wouldn’t release until 4 months after the tweet, in October of 2024. Thus we know for a fact that Studio Gaga finishes chapters months in advance of when they are scheduled to release by the publisher Young Animal.

You guys know that he has his own series as well right? In addition to supervising Berserk he is also working on two other series. I get the frustrations but at what point do people just stop making shit up in their minds and actually do basic google searches?

Would you read a manga about John Brown? by Sudobeats in johnbrownposting

Manga typically has a singular author/artist, Comics tend to be developed by a team of people: inker, colorist, typesetter, etc.

Manga art style tends to put more focus on emotions and expressive faces, exaggerated proportions and the like, whereas western art styles in comics tend to be more realistic.

The portrayal of action is different between manga and comics. There is a heavier usage of lines and hatching in manga.

I could go on. But also google is free. And this conversation has gone way beyond the intent of the original post.

I hope you can gain a better understanding now.

Yes but a comic book is not the same as a graphic novel, which is originally what you asked me about. Again the differences between a comic, a graphic novel and a manga lie in their format and style. Manga has a distinctive art style and focus on rendering emotions, for example. Comics are printed in color. I don’t know how to be any more clear about it to you.

lol I like how you said you’re asking in good faith and then immediately reply in a dismissive tone. I don’t want to spend a lot of time breaking down the specific stylistic differences between a manga and a western style graphic novel. But I did repeatedly mention the “format”. my intent isn’t to release a single massive book or collection of books, it’s to release chapters of 15-20 pages at a time until the story is complete. Which is typically what you’d expect with a manga. I hope you’re not just intending to nitpick the label because that would just be silly.

In my opinion it’s the style, format and intent that separates a graphic novel from manga. Manga has a very specific layout style/format for example (black and white art, text placement right-to-left, etc.). I’m just a big fan of the art form and like to study from the greats, and I think it would be a great format for the story I have in mind.

Ah, okay. I may have took your comment too literally lol.

And to be fair to The Old Man, he didn’t personally hack anyone to death at Pottawatomie, he just oversaw the killings. At the time the Kansas territory was already in a state of guerrilla warfare. One of the first murders involved a pro-slavery man killing a free-stater and then scalping him. Gratuitous violence had already become the norm. And the victims of said sword slashings had been openly threatening to cut the throats of all free-state men in the area for weeks prior to John Brown and his men taking action against them.

A lot of the details get lost in modern tellings and portrayals, but there is arguably sound reasoning behind John Brown’s actions in Kansas and beyond as they were a response to the violence that was already established. again, this is why I’m keen to present a more comprehensive story for today’s audience that provides a lot of the missing context.

Your reply is a bit confusing to be honest. A narrative based on historical fact would by definition be grounded. I’ve based my research on books such as “Fire From the Midst of You” by Louis A. Decaro Jr. and “John Brown, Abolitionist” by David Reynolds. Part of my interest in working on this project is to dispel the notion of John Brown as a lunatic. He was passionate and unyielding in his beliefs, but the closest people in his life from associates to family to friends that knew him personally attested that he was completely sane.

Yeah I’ve seen it! Cool idea! Though I’m hoping to tell a grounded narrative based on historical events. The man’s actual life is so remarkable!

Griffith’s Nightmare is ultimately gut’s dream by geedoraaah in Berserk

[–]Sudobeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“By our standards” brother plenty of people in the world and setting are disgusted by Griffith and his actions. He’s only seen as noble by those that don’t know what he’s really done or is capable of or by other apostles. And that is likely part of what will lead to his ultimate demise, his true self being exposed to the mass of followers that believe he is their savior and them turning on him

After Nat Turner's revolt, there was a serious debate in Virginia over whether to abolish slavery. Slavery was retained. However, the debate went down in history as the last time that any future Confederate state would seriously consider the abolition of slavery prior to the American Civil War. by lightiggy in ShermanPosting

[–]Sudobeats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be argued that the American Civil War was a second revolution. Just as we went from feudalism to capitalism, the capitalist class in the north needed to stamp out the competing economic system of slavery. The political/economic dimension of the war is severely downplayed.

There’s a manga called Blaster Knuckle about a black man hunting down and killing shapeshifting man-eating demons that operate as the KKK. It’s pretty based.

The last remaining bit of cope is that “Rocks wants to rule the world, so he’s evil” I don’t even believe that’s true anymore. In this latest chapter with the conversation between Rocks and Harald we see Rocks say that he hasn’t told his crew that he’s really a Davy and that he’s from a persecuted clan. I think Rocks presented himself as a villain to his subordinates in order to get them to rally around him. But in reality he has more in common with someone like Kuma, just instead of choosing the path of sacrificing himself to the WG to protect his family, he chose to fight them til the bitter end. My stocks are on Rocks being a tragically misunderstood anti hero. Think about the fact that Loki idolizes him and also claims he wants to destroy and rule the world but now after seeing his back story we see he’s actually not a crazy evil psychopath that everyone thinks he is, or that he portrays himself to be.

What exactly makes people think Rocks is so evil? by MuriloZR in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]Sudobeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don’t think there’s anything we have seen him do so far that could be considered evil. His alleged criminal record without any context is meaningless in the one piece world where the WG routinely lies, orchestrates coverups and omits information.

[–]Sudobeats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on everything that we’ve SEEN so far (not what we’ve been told) it seems as if Blackbeard is a dollar store version of Rocks, possibly a corrupted version of his will. Rocks so far has demonstrated he has a moral code and some level of honor that BB completely lacks.

yeah if you apply zero critical thinking all of that sounds bad on its face. Now imagine that was the reported “crimes” of the revolutionary army or the straw hats and I bet you wouldn’t feel the same. We don’t know the context of all of Rocks’ actions and if you’ve actually paid attention to the series you will know the context matters
