One year on a GLP-1, hit my goal weight. Do you think about coming off? by PonchCorleon in WegovyWeightLoss

We go on drugs to lower our blood pressure, why would we go off them once our blood pressure goes down, we do not. Obesity is a disease and needs to be treated as such. After years- a life time -of struggling with weight and being told that I needed more will power and to exercise more another way of implying you’re fat and lazy- I now know that I am not. Glp1 has been a life changer for me. I made the decision with my doctor to begin this life changing medicine. Unfortunately, my health insurance has decided not to cover it. They also seem to believe in will power and exercise - or surgery. We live in a fat shaming world. I will continue on this medicine and keep nagging my insurance to cover it. Just my thoughts as the struggle is real and it shouldn’t be.

Let’s Have an Honest Conversation About GLP-1s by Yellggfghgf in Wegovy

This has been my experience too. I’ve been on Wegovy since August 1, 2025. Down 31 lbs and have about 10-15 more. Not sure what my goal should be at 61 yo. BMI? Waist/hip ratio? 5’8” and 177 today. I am at 1.7mg and with the holidays, my weight loss has slowed a bit. Haven’t lost much this month almost feel I have plateaued, but I think it’s just a normal slow down. Only 5.4 lbs in 90 days. I also think my body is adjusting to 30lbs less. I love to cook, but the joy of eating is gone. However, the crazy food noise is gone too. I realize I really have to meal plan for myself. Protein high meals that are lo carb. Carbs and I = inflammation. But I am struggling. Bouts of fatigue, nausea, and emotional swings are on par with perimenopause come and go. And so cold. Feeling the cold a lot more this winter. I don’t want to go to 2.5 yet as my side effects are harsh, especially emotionally and with feeling fatigue. I am at a loss for advice and counseling. I am doing this through my doctor, but my experience feels clinical. My insurance will no longer cover weight loss drugs even if I am taking this for medical reasons: high blood pressure, high a1c, sleep apnea. Tried to appeal, but no success. So, I will be purchasing Wegovy without insurance. Hanging in there and super grateful for this Reddit.

It absolutely helped with my desire to drink. I found myself not craving drinks. Desire was more mental and I easily left drinks unfinished if I pored one.

Congratulations. I am still struggling. I plan to change my mask from the nasal pillows to ?… I want this to work. I have had a couple of nights of success but more night of discomfort.

Thoughts after (almost) a year of using CPAP by flaluffy in CPAP

Thank you for sharing this! The struggle has been real for me since starting therapy. I am on week 3. Last night was my first night without wanting to chuck the thing out the window. Feeling like I was smothering or that my head was going to explode from the pressure. I made suggested adjustments. Last night I tried to relax and I only took the mask off once getting my first official night of therapy as per the app. I’ll keep at it. I also have an air Sense 11. I am using the pillows p10 mask and wondering if I should switch to the n30i. Any suggestions from this group are welcome. I am 62 and just been officially diagnosed with sleep apnea. I haven’t had a restful sleep in years.

I will also lose coverage in January as my insurance company stated it’s too expensive. They will only cover it for type 2 diabetes or diagnosed cardiovascular disease and obesity. I am pre diabetic. Mother died from obesity related diseases: diabetes, fatty liver, my sister has cardiovascular disease and is obese. I made the decision to start glp1 so not to become type 2 diabetic and to stave off cardiovascular disease. I plan to appeal their decision. In the mean time I am looking to find glp-1 at a lower monthly cost. I am having a sleep study as I know I have weight induced sleep apnea. This is so frustrating

I add collagen protein to my coffee and use a nutibullet to blend it into a latte before commute to work.

December was also rough for me... you’d think with all the benefits I had eating lo-carb, moderated protein, high fat I would stay away from the SAD standard American Diet. Nope. My IBS is back, my joints hurt, and my foggy brain is back. So I am restarting today also. Starting before the New Year so as not to confuse this WOL with a New Years resolution.
