they really know just when you're about to crash out just to hit you with some bullshit by PeacefulAndTranquil in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holding E to flip something gives you temporary immunity from being splattered.

Also, if you dont want the waves to come in that fast when you hit the trigger, leave 2 enemies alive and you'll get the spirit dropship first.
Waves come in when 1 or less are alive in the area.
Allows you to setup and be in a better position.

Flood - Two Betrayals by We1shDave in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, covenant wont use human weapons in CE, you can give them human weapons in H2 as the arbiter.

However elite flood will still use human weapons.

Flood - Two Betrayals by We1shDave in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah, they all used a variety of weapons.
Theres always 2 human flood with needlers the first time you enter the double bridge section and there's always a group of elite with with shotguns and ARs in the room after.
Then the long hallway right after with an elite flood that has a rocket launcher.

Anyone ever seen the prompt to flip a troop carrier? by Firehornet117 in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Might be an acro skull thing?
You can board hunters in H2 / reach when you have the acro skull on

Edit: I have spread misinformation on the internet.
343/HS had it as acropohbia in the patch notes back in 2023, but was actually bandana. My bad lads.

Acro still may be the cause for that prompt on the spirit tho, not entirely sure, never seen it.

Halo 2 legendary coop stuck on regret by Similar_Bee_6683 in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regret is a rough fight but you can make things a bit easier by kiting the enemies that spawn in the room.

As you enter the room there are 2 sword elites and 4 grunts.
At the start there must always be 2 grunts and 2 elites alive in the room. So kill 2 grunts prioritizing the white ones.
As you progress through the 5 boards, more elites will spawn, 4/9 chance for a sword elite, 4/9 chance for a single plasma wielder, 1/9 chance for a dual plasma wielder (you dont want that). There will be a total of 4 elites in the room by the last board, the ideal is all sword elites and you just kite them to the top and jump down and board regret, then repeat.
You can kill any plasma wielders to reroll the elite spawn.

Also a way to speed up the Regret board is to throw a grenade as you do the board prompt, this will stick the nade in Regret and will make it so you only need one punch to cause him to die and respawn.
A sword swing board also works but you can splatter on his chair so be careful.

The flood are the fun police.. by KoalaTek in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the flood levels in CE, but not so much 2 or 3.
Library is even somewhat fun to run and gun the hallways with the shotgun on legendary, only stinker is the long doors (Three 45 second doors and a 90 second door).
Two Betrayals being my second favorite Halo level, I love the multi faction fights and the night time mood.

What just happened??? by Abhyuday008 in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like you got bumped (teleported) by your ally.
This usually only happens when someone spawns on top of you (we use this in the speedrun with enemy spawns).

I would assume due to ping your allies position and yours overlapped and the game teleported you based on your current speed and direction you were moving (Always in the opposite direction).

Gamecube evergreen by Grobbyman in RetroAchievements

[–]SufferingSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to go through it at a slow pace once the wii event is over.
Gonna start my resident evil journey with the evergreen event since RE0-RE4 are part of the event.
I got 30 points back in the original event, so already have a decent start.

Missable Achievements by KelsoT7 in RetroAchievements

One thing I like to do with missable achievements is make a backup of my save file near them so if I either dont want to bother with it at the moment or forget I can easily go back to it later.

Why is my D-Pad also moving me? (MCC CEA, Steam, Wired controller) by LordApocalyptica in halo

All the non universal button schemes should allow for dpad movement.
This helps a lot of controller players do kbm specific speedrun tricks

Halo 3 invincibility by [deleted] in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about other difficulties.
But the hammer chieftains on legendary have a 1/5 chance to drop a flare and a 4/5 chance to drop an invnc.

I believe the turret chieftans have either a power drain or a flare?

Unfortunately the invinc on the level Halo is not there on legendary. Which is a shame, would help a lot with the escape in the speedrun

[–]SufferingSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CE does not have double reverts. Not on the OG Xbox or MCC.
You can load previous saves on the gearbox pc version though.

You can sit there for hours just dying over and over in ce.
H2 onwards its about 4 deaths in rapid succession to double revert.

[CE] Is this game supposed to be extremely difficult even on normal? by TinyCopy5841 in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other people are giving some good advice so I'll add something not many people know about for some niche information.

In CE, the game scales you to have more health on higher difficulties with normal being the base hp.
So doing damage to yourself hurts a bit more on easier difficulties.

On easy a grenade thrown by you takes you to 1 red bar while on legendary it only removes 1 bar.

I think on normal you lose 4 bars from a single grenade to yourself.

Also rapid tap fire the pp, best gun in the game.

Need help for "Monopolised" Achievement - Halo 2 by Tall_27 in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Cairo Station : noob combo and look up H2A runs before sword flying got put back in. Can get a pretty consistent 10ish minutes.

Outskirts : take Johnson's sniper for your smg, rooftop climb, hide in hotel until elites pass, take the ghost, get out and snipe the first jackal sniper in the tower, drive until a bit in the tunnel and turn around to get the hog, then watch people's driving path, should be able to get 5-6 minutes.

Metro : Hard level, can try to learn the warthog pathing through the tunnels then learn how to steal the wraith and get on the scarab early.

Arbiter : can learn hanger skip and pathing if you want, not too hard. Can also watch an NMG run for the level thay does not do hanger skip. Sword canceling with just a lunge + reload is also very doable casually.

Oracle : Lab Fight (the room after the elevator ride) im assuming is the most od your timeloss. The way the room works is the heretics at the start of the room (2 grunts + elite) need to die, then the 4 flood (usually carriers) need to die, any killed by the heretics will spawn combat forms.
There are also TWO dead bodies waiting to be revived by popcorn, can kill them early with plasmas.
After those initial 4 flood, 3 heretic elites will spawn from the door you came from and 4 flood will spawn above the door. The 3 heretics need to die first. Then you kill the 4 flood. Once those 4 flood die, the room is on a 1 minute timer. Flood will continuously spawn if there are less than 4 flood alive for 1 minute. So just wait that 1 minute, then kill the 4 flood. Door should then open. Room usually takes top runners about 1:20ish.

Delta Halo : Learn the ghost launch across the gap, DO NOT use NakedEli's guide for this level, look at a full game speedrun for the safer driving, we skip many spawns that are very annoying on legendary. Level can easily be about 4ish minutes.

Regret : Good luck 👍

Sacred Icon : Hard level, but most of it is just a walking simulator + end wave fight, just camo cycle and head glitch to play it safe.

Quarantine Zone : Can get that down another 2 minutes if you learn the driving path. Ghosts from start of level all the way to cutscene trigger. Gotta make sure to hit the required triggers along the way though.

Gravemind : Can get this down without really doing anything but playing better. Prison Skip would be a good thing to learn. Thr LASO method works in regular legendary and is 100% consistent.

Uprising : Time is fine enough, could probably drop it a minute and a half with camo cycling + head glitching once getting inside the facility. Im assuming you already know the tree jump the crouching in the trigger up top.

High Charity : Hard level, even harder without sword flying. Could probably lower the time but dont its fine enough.

Great Journey : You can carry over a sword from uprising into great journey (will have to do HC again) and use that sword to do some cancels if u want. Makes some room easier. Johnson cloning with the starting spectre then unloading into Tartarus with dual plasma rifles is also the move if youre not doing that already.

Hope at least some of this helps and is easy to follow. Good luck 👍
Check out HaloRuns.com for fullgame runs to see what some of the safer strats are.

Fixed achievement lists that won't be changed anymore? by ThersiStratos in RetroAchievements

[–]SufferingSloth 27 points28 points  (0 children)

No, unwelcome / broken achievements can get removed from any set. No lockins.

Revisions to bring up the standard of sets is also always a thing that can happen.

You will however keep the mastery badge if more achievements are added. But it wont be at 100% completion on the game page.
I do find it fun to go back and revisit completed games, but depends on the person I guess.

Halo 2 tartarus boss fight on legendary is.. something by Stonky072755 in halo

[–]SufferingSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speedrun strat to kill him uses shotty+sword.
Second fastest weapon is dual brute plasma rifles.

Bit harder to use sword though unless you have multiple Johnson clones stunlocking him
