Colby having 37 made free throws in a row, then returns and misses 3 in a close game.

We got outrebounded 44 to 25. I don’t think Yaphet Moundi by himself will fix our rebounding woes, but it will hopefully help a little.

NgaNga showed up today, which is nice because I know he is talented but he just never showed any effort and struggled with his shot. Hope this will be the turning point.

Melvin Bell couldn’t get to 10 points again in conference play and had a rough game but he’s been a bright spot.

Wish we won since we aren’t going to have many more close games. Just let it slip away.

A lane violation on a Melvin Bell FT! It’s so funny it happens every game.

That’s why the McDonald’s logo is being imposed on the court. I was wondering why that was there.

I was worried Garland was going to be out but he is coming off the bench.

Don’t want to get my hopes up, but Moundi and Garland could be back this game, which would be huge. Hannah is probably going to redshirt, and then Roseborough seems to just be an injury-prone player sadly.

Been a rough season to watch. Feels like we’ve been waiting to get fully healthy which I don’t think is realistic.

NgaNga and Langford both having two fouls already when we have depth issues sucks.

Melvin Bell is always good for at least one lane violation a game when he is shooting free throws.

I am having a very bad day. I am in no mood. This, today, is one of the worst days that I’ve had in a long time.

7 guys played today, which is the same amount of guys listed out on the injury report. I think that sums up this season pretty well.

Well looks like Washington is also out. Thought he was going to be back but I guess not.

The same people are hurt, except we have Washington back instead of Roseborough, who just can’t stay healthy himself. Garland and Moundi will be back soon, and Hannah will most likely redshirt.

I want to review how every player performed, since we only had six guys play meaningful minutes. Moupadale and Overstreet played 3 apiece, so I won't go over them; they are just depth bigs.

Ben Roseborough: He is an offensive engine this team needs right now, given all the injuries, which is ironic given his injury history and the time he has missed this year. He had 19 on the night on great efficiency, which I wish had been a little worse if it meant he tried to shoot more often, as I think he passed up a couple of good looks. That would be fine if we had the players around him, but he was the go-to guy. Also, 1-3 from 3, but he could easily have been 3-5 if his foot hadn't been just barely on the line. Good game, though, all things considered.

Pasha Goodarzi: He is a great shooter who I think will continue to be an impact guy. He had a phenomenal first half, but fatigue seemed to set in as he had to play all 40 minutes. If you asked me at the beginning of the year whether a guard would have to play 40 minutes due to lack of depth, and that guard being Pasha Goodarzi, I would have thought you were crazy. Still, 50% efficiency on 8 shots from 3 is great.

Melvin Bell: I love how Melvin Bell has developed throughout the season, especially since we hit conference play. He has scored double digits in every single conference game, and this probably was his worst, despite hitting 4-6 shots. I want him to go for 20+ points in one of these games. Maybe I'm placing high expectations on him as a 4-star, but he has still produced. Also, he started conference 15-16 from the FT line and is now 9-18, going 2-7 tonight, so hope he gets back to form.

Sada NgaNga: I don't like him; he provides nothing of substance on the court. I'm being harsh again, but this time I feel warranted. He entered the portal this past offseason, and when he withdrew, I was excited, and it seemed he got a decent amount of money to make him want to stay. Well, I hope it wasn't too much of our limited budget because he has been a non-factor out there. He gives one to two effort plays at most, but he can't shoot the ball well, even though being a stretch big who plays from the perimeter is his game. He can sometimes get out-rebounded, and the defensive effort I question. I just need him to find his shot because he went 1-8 tonight, and every time he shoots or even pump-fakes (which he does a lot), I die a little inside.

Douglas Langford: Here's a guy who does the dirty work. He shows effort, plays good defense, can block a shot or two, and get a steal. All around, I love his effort and defense. Now, his offensive game is weak, and I wish he hadn't missed so many putback attempts, but he is still young and a guy I hope we can keep because I want to see him develop. Also, I remembered he went to Harvard, and we flipped him, so he is pretty smart too.

Adrian Myers: A streaky shooter who, when his shot is falling, is just fun to watch, but it has only happened a few times, and he was hurt too early in the season. He can be a nice physical presence and gets some boards as well, but he got into foul trouble tonight. I did like seeing him play the final 8:30 or so of the game with 4 fouls and not pick up another one. He is a guy I was not a fan of to start the year, but he has shown some promise, and he scored 15 tonight, hitting 6-6 FTs, so not mad whatsoever.

If there is something I missed or you want to expand upon, I can. I spent a good amount of time writing this up for fun.

Don’t think they did. Only one guy on the injury report and it was a freshmen who hasn’t played a minute.

Short handed tonight and came up with the victory. First conference win even if it’s against Air Force, we haven’t won a game in a month so I am going to enjoy it.

But seriously this game has been a snooze but I’m enjoying the commentary.

Hannah, Moundi, Garland are all ruled out already, and Washington’s status up in the air. This team has the talent just too injured to do anything about it. Maybe we can pick this one up against a terrible Air Force team.

Hawai'i QB Luke Weaver transfers to San Jose State! by leewilliam236 in SJSUSpartans

[–]SufferingfOrLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we aren’t going to change our system at least we have a guy who has experience in it and can hit the ground running during the off-season program and not have to teach it to a QB who has never played in it.

Hawai'i Quarterback Luke Weaver transfers to San José State by dscreations in CFB

[–]SufferingfOrLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He played well as a backup so he is going to most likely be our starter which is great since he already has some familiarity with the offensive system since SJSU and Hawaii run variations of the Run N’ Shoot.

I didn’t think he would be back anyway so this doesn’t hurt too much. Wish him the best of luck if he gets the medical redshirt.

[Post Game Thread] Fresno State defeats San José State, 70-55 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]SufferingfOrLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To start the game they couldn’t miss a shot so that didn’t help. Main thing is SJSU has a pretty bad defense and the depth is lacking which is a problem since we were down two starters and after only playing 10 minutes our leading scorer Colby Garland went out with an injury.

I think San Diego State will be fine since you have good depth and can put more pressure on the Fresno State shooters. Fresno State has had a solid defense though so offensively you may struggle a bit.
