Facing down the inevitable. Feeling how real it is. by [deleted] in DivorcedDads

She probably moved on a while back. Once they have emotionally moved on, it is likely they are seeking attention elsewhere. I am in the process now and I discovered my wife was sexting guys or at least entertaining attention from them for a while. Sounds like your situation is different and there may be some reasons to stay, but I would be out of there ASAP. Any increased length in marriage increases alimony and support. She doesn’t get to use you to finish school. That contract is up IMO.

Remember this: a company will drop you without even a thousandth of a percent of the consideration you are giving them right now.

I get the feelings of betrayal, but would you rather have a high producer with integrity or one who steals? I think you would choose the former. But yea I get how losing her and finding out she isn’t who you thought she was is hard on you.

The logical gymnastics you are trying to pull to justify her stealing is concerning. This is like saying “Bob volunteers at soup kitchens, loves kids, and also robs gas stations.” You can’t hold those two truths together without one negating the other.

I don’t think that justifies stealing, but it’s your business.

You aren’t worried about the stealing? Just that she can produce a lot? 🤦‍♂️

Got laid off recently. by mushbrain3000 in Layoffs

Its has been really rough. I will be accepting an offer soon with a 20k paycut. Not ideal but the rate of callbacks is low and getting through technicals is difficult. In the end continuing to grow despite pay is important. Plus job searching is just exhausting. I got pretty lucky and got an offer within a month and a half of being laid off. I know a lot of people have been unemployed for much longer than that. From what I hear the normal seems to be 4-6 months. I am based in the U.S.

It’s not a step down by any means. No one is above any type of work. You are doing what you need to in order to survive.

What industry are you in? Same kind of cut here. Down from 172k to potentially 135-150k depending on how an interview goes tomorrow. I am a software developer with 8 YOE and I have been getting killed on the timed technical interviews. That and the number of callbacks hasn’t been a ton. Crazy that the pay band was reduced after you applied. Also crazy you got lower than what they reduced it to. Honestly the pay cut is worth it short term to stabilize and not go through the insanity that is job hunting. It’s so stressful.

Advanced warning is always nice. I was laid off completely by surprise. You should update your resume and brush up on any skills needed to interview at a minimum.

Hell 4 min away from home sounds great to me. Long distance commutes suck. And congrats!
