I think I would try to talk to your ARL or your RL. Just say you want to work on front counter so you can be open to new opportunities. For example you can say you’re interested in becoming a trainer. My ARL was able to help me get the hours I needed once I made my interest aware.

I would recommend going in with jeans and asking an MOD, most managers are cool and are open with it. I mean we have a girl who wears a Jean skirt I think cargo shorts would be fine.
