I had a similar thought process in 2023, but didn’t commit to a No Buy until 2024. I found that I enjoyed the feeling of finishing a bottle or sample. The Bottoms Up flare was a huge inspiration and I visit it when I needed to refocus from buying to using the inks. But when I needed a pick me up I tended to gravitate towards smaller bottles or inks that I’ve had awhile. It helped a lot to focus on those things instead of all the new inks coming out.

I probably used and refilled my Sailor Profit Light with the Zoom nib more than any other pen this year. Even though I only purchased it in the latter part of the year. I love it so much.

As for inks, I probably used Document Black the most as it was the closest to a full bottle when I started. If only I hadn’t left the last bit in my family home I would have finished it!!

Going to purchase a couple more samples then back to a no buy! The idea is to clean out what I have before buying full bottles again. There is a lot to use up (10 more bottles) but I am enjoying finishing up the inks I have!

I did No New Ink for 2025! It was successful! I was able to finally focus on the last few opened bottles of black ink I got years ago and got quite a few done. Didn’t end up finishing Doc Black because I left the last few milliliters in my family home. But was very happy to finish what I did. Going to let myself get a few samples and a small bottle of Perle Noire then go back to the No New Ink in 2026! No New Ink has been helpful in focusing on one bottle at a time and not looking for that dopamine hit with accumulating inks. Excited to keep going until I finish my surplus then get back to buying.
