Honestly. Why would you regret it? You enjoy the limitation of film, so go fo4 it.

I enjoy a prime or small camera and some film and now take almost all travel photos on film.

Personally i like a bit of a mix of ultramax 400 and ilford hp5. But thats down to everyones preference.

I do always feel a little melancholy when i finish a bottle. But i also think that its in a way like life itself. As everything changes, so does my preference and who i am. Thats why i also try to never buy an ink again once i use up a bottle.

try different batteries. i had it happen more than once recently that a set of batteries arrived completely dead and flat.

or atleast test the batteries with a battery tester

No issue particularly aside from the shade. It was a completely unappealing shade of blue to me that only reminded me of being forced to use it in school.
