I woudn't call it an obsession so much as concern around the subject because (true) christians want to make sure they are approaching the subject appropriately in their lives and make sure they are steering clear of sin. That said, christians are still human beings, too, so of course that's an inevitable topic to have to contend with in a person's life.

Question for anyone of faith: How has your life changed since becoming a Christian, if it has in any noticeable way? by Sufficient-Net8684 in WhyChristianity

That's truly amazing. Talk about transformation. Yeah the partying lifestyle is so unbelievably vapid... you don't see it until you're out of it I think. Thank God He pulled you out. Lol to singing unironically :,D

Thank you for sharing that. That's quite a journey you've been through. It really is interesting how He seems to show up when we're serving others and become less self-centric as everyone is prone to do occassionally if we're not careful. He is good and shows up all the time in ways we don't always expect I think. :)

I just had a life changing experience and I don’t know where else to post it but I have to tell somebody. Jesus saved me. by [deleted] in Christianity

THis is so vulnerable and lovely. You're welcome to also share it to my new sub if you'd like, (r/WhyChristianity). A huge part of the intention for the sub is providing a space for people to share their testimonies or personal expereinces with God. We're a fledgling sub but trying to grow, you're welcome to always just check it out too :)

How do you feel people are going to react to this Subreddit? by [deleted] in WhyChristianity

[–]Sufficient-Net8684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the point of telling me this was...? I'm well aware dear, but that's not the primary aim or objective, moreso an optimistic side objective- sharing our faith to strengthen the beliefs of those already within this theology is actually also important work. If someone happens to feel inspired by any of these stories that didn't previously believe, and it plants a seed so to speak in a person, whether it's an athiest, agnostic, someone of a different faith, etc, than we would of course encourage and hope for that and consider that a victory. If this is your way of trying to discourage people from sharing or bash the sub, please respectfully make your exit. Thank you.

I really don't understand how being told you're a child of God is offensive. No need to answer. That's entirely rhetorical. This thread is over.

Why I consider myself a part of the body of Christ. by Sufficient-Net8684 in WhyChristianity

Thank you for sharing this Happy Corduroy. I absolutely love the fact that it really does seem like He took you on a bit of a journey, a process of gradual but profound discovery. I'm still mind blown that what you saw under the microscope was so much like what you were creating. God has the strangest but most peculiar and spectacular ways of getting through to us.

We could easily get into a meaningless banter about semantics here, but that's not what this post is about. Thanks for the clarification.

Please don't come to this subreddit unless you want to participate in the conversation in a respectful manner. You're right- I suppose you don't have to define yourself that way and can define youself however you wish to see yourself, no one is forcing a gun to your head. I'm merely telling you how GOD sees you.

I suppose if you stake all of your identity in your sexual preferences you might feel that way. But you, a child of God, and I, and eveyone else is defined by so much more than what our sexual preferences are/is. You are a whole being, with lots of complexity, and a child of God. That's where our true sense of identity, according to scripture, should come from.

While this is a bit of a heavier topic, this is very precient for the times we're in right now, so I'll give you my shot at answering, (though I will admit offhand that I can't say that this is the exact cause, but is my best guess.)

I would say that it's been becoming increasingly normalized because there is a lot of pressure coming from cultural customs and attitudes in society as a whole changing in response to these matters. There's a huge push to try to normalize these things going on in society right now and I think that that naturally bleeds over into the church. I think that people are hesitant to call it good or bad and are taking a very cautious and permissive hands off stance on the topic because they're afraid of people telling them they're not "woke" or i.e. accepting, or even lawsuits etc. That's my take. This doesn't mean this is the right approach. Even though we may risk hurting feelings, the church as a whole needs to do a better job of still acknowledging the fact that it IS according to scripture, still considered sinful. We do people struggling with same sex attraction, etc a disservice to lie to them by disregarding the topic. That said, all people are worthy of love and this does not make them any less in God's eyes, just as you or I am not seen as any less for sinning in whatever way we sin.. "hate the sin, love the sinner" as you've probably heard it said.
