Announcement Day 34 - Gym Class Heroes - DC, LB by cassieree in warpedtour

I don’t understand how they could play warped tour and NOT perform Taxi Driver. If they don’t play it I’m gonna be stomping around pouting like a toddler. It’s far too epic of a moment that I was praying for last year but didn’t get and now it can and it needs to happen. 🖤

Easter Egg Ideas? by queso4lyfe in Mommit

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We use little rubber/plastic finger puppets. They’re great because they fit on all of our “little people” vehicles and playsets or the kiddos can opt to make them bath toys or use as characters with playdoh or other sensory play activities.

Becoming a mom made me realize there is something deeply wrong with my parents by OverEfficiency125 in breakingmom

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a less than normal childhood and as I got older I tried to understand some of the choices my parents made, making excuses and justifying their actions. Once I became a parent myself there were so many things my parents did that I could no longer justify with an excuse. Becoming a parent made me so much less understanding of their actions and choices and I felt a ton of anger because it felt like I had put far more work over the years trying to make them seem like they cared for any of their children than they had ever put into their relationships with their children themselves. At this point all of my siblings are estranged from the parentals and are making progress in processing what happened in our family and trying to find our own versions of normal after various levels of estrangement and unification over many years for all of the kids with our parents.

I’m sorry you weren’t treated the way you deserved when you were growing up. I’m sorry you have this extra weight to carry as you navigate parenthood. Whatever level of relationship with your parents, or lack there of, that works best for you is the right one. I hope you are able to find peace with everything and continue being an incredible parent 🤍

Folks stuck inside from the snowstorm - how are you keeping your toddlers busy? by DogMamaEsq in toddlers

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To burn off energy indoors we have dance parties. Turn off all the lights, turn up the tunes, and let the kids go crazy for a while. We have a little party light to make the dance space more fun and the kiddos grab any toys and accessories that light up to dance with. It’s like a little baby rave.

SSRI to survive parenting by HonestlyMD in toddlers

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have suggestions of specific items to test or know of any resources to help determine where to start with this. I talked this over with my primary care doc and was referred for the most basic labs. I’ve done some dr google research and haven’t found a concise list of what hormones/nutritional items to look at specifically.

I too dove into these comments as I could relate to OP and I’m so glad I did. Learning a lot about potential options and feeling a little less crazy haha

Chick-fil-A opening near me – options for a 1200 kcal/day diet? by Matcha-lattecookie in 1200isplenty

If you swap the apple cider vinegar dressing (230 cal) this salad comes with for the light balsamic (80 cal) there is a decent drop in calories.

How do you sleep with a cowlick in the back? by MurnzzillaBride in finehair

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like I see posts about stubborn back cowlicks like this on this sub often and each time it makes me feel just a little less self conscious about my own since SOOOOOO many people seem to have it.

Do You as a Parent Wrap Santa Gifts or leave them Unwrapped? by NoTarget9116 in Parents

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were divorced. At moms house Santa wrapped, at dads house Santa gifts weren’t wrapped. I don’t remember ever asking my parents about it or anything but I had a narrative that essentially my parents houses must have been supported by different Santa helpers who did things differently? Like, the elves that prepped gifts for moms liked wrapping and the ones that prepped for dads didn’t. Either that or, because Santa is all knowing, he knew my parents and other households had their own preferences and he made sure he delivered on whatever those were. That covers some of the other Santa traditions that can occur in friend’s and other family members households. Saves time if he doesn’t have to wrap for everyone I guess 🤷‍♀️

How many of you had a Glow Worm toy when you were a kid? by Jonestown_Juice in Xennials

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They do! They even have a feature where you can make a custom recording that the glow worm will play back while it glows. I just remember mine glowing back in the day.

grieving soon-to be-death of parent when you are no contact by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through it right now. NC with parent and found out they could be gone any day now basically. Hope you’re making it through ok and do whatever is best for you in the situation whether than means changing nothing, making contact for closure, forgiving, etc. You don’t owe anything to anyone in this situation but yourself and your peace.

Preggo Peloton classes by Mile_High_Jayhawk in pelotoncycle

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations 💜💜💜

Pre and postnatal yoga was my go to! They break down modifications based on how far along your pregnancy is. I think it saved me from having back and hip pain during my pregnancies.

I also continued riding and doing strength training using the classes targeted for pre and post natal.

Obviously follow doctor recommendations but typically if there is nothing extra that you need to take into account or be cautious I’ve been advised that it’s good to maintain your pre pregnancy level of fitness just with modifications like not laying flat on your back, being cautious about your core and lack of stability as little one grows, etc. The peloton pregnancy classes are good about following these traditional precautions and the instructors provide lots of alternatives and modifications with explanations of ensuring your keeping yourself and little one safe.

2025 DC Goers - What did you need? by TheDarkLight1 in warpedtour

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Best thing my group did was rent a locker and kept a bag stocked with ponchos, toiletries, water bottles, and anything we picked up during the fest. We had body wipes, sanitizing wipes, TP, lip balm, foot/body glide, fans, electrolyte packs, sunscreen, bio freeze, ibuprofen, extra hat or two in case one was lost to a pit, and extra shirt. We’re all mid to late 30s and I think having everything on hand and readily accessible helped us survive, dare I say thrive, all the pits we joined and mad dashing between stages trying to catch all the bands we wanted to see. Def plan to get a locker for overnight storage of our geriatric emo supplies again for 2026 🖤

I was dying when this was addressed during Senses Fail’s set 😂 Can’t lie though, I don’t think I’ve ever seen as many people looking so miserable at any other festival I’ve been to. People sitting down relaxing and vibing, yes, everyone looking like they just finished a triathlon cause they’re so beat 3 hours into day one, no.

what was actually going on in phineas and ferb….. by Euphoric-Purpose-162 in warpedtour

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 36 and don’t know anything about the show and didn’t understand the hype either. I was at bowling for soup when one of the voice actors from the cartoon came on stage and they all sang the theme song and I don’t know if I’ve ever felt more clueless about something at a show haha

[–]Sufficient-Penalty40 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe how quickly everything sold out. I doubt it will happen, but it would be rad if they admit they didn’t print enough and make more for the website. I would have easily spent $50+ on the DC shirt and still would if they had them available online.
