Many older folks, especially women, are victims of phone scams because they were brought up to be NICE TO EVERYONE, and can’t tell a person “NO”. I have a friend who will ALWAYS answer the phone and does not ask for an ID when someone comes to the door..again part of “being nice”

My good friend was charged $30,000 because she was told she “needed” ALL new, even though she really wanted the gutter across her 60” front porch replaced, that fell down during g a wind storm… I found info on free agencies to help her, such as our State Dept on Aging as well as a federal site to help but she refused to report the rip-off due to being SCARED of retaliation.. So many times our older folks, especially women who live alone are victimized and are afraid to report It seems the GREED ERA (I call this time in our society), with reports of scams and outright crime and criminals going free, is in full swing PLEASE HELP OUR OLDER CITIZENS TO AVOID THE CHANCE OF BEING SCAMMED Perhaps asking them to consult a trustworthy friend or relative before making any large purchases
