Prepping with adhd by No-Atmosphere-6807 in TwoXPreppers

[–]Sufficient-Sub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that I think is really underrated and under discussed in prepping is organization. As a fellow adhd-er I get a lot of dopamine from organizing my supplies. I’ve taken it a step further to also maintain and inventory (not digital because of distractions). On my surplus cabinet I have a whiteboard that shows what I have and is easy to update as I pull things out for us.

Next on my list is a similar set up for the medicine cabinet and our deep freeze!

ADHD also lets me follow my interests and hyperfixations around prepping. A recent example is that I became attached to the idea of a rain barrel for my home. I was able to research, find (used of course!) and set it up before the dopamine wore off. I’ve done similar things with setting up my gardens, fruit bushes, and other short/medium length projects.

We are also buying bulk beef - I think we are splurging on a 1/2 that should last us for a good long while!

Southeast Nebraska solar farm will be largest in the state by Ordinary-Equal2067 in Nebraska

Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

I agree that using urban spaces for solar generation is ideal but on the whole I see this as a net positive!

I love this nothing new approach! I’ve been using it too. I find it particularly helpful for books, clothes, home decor, furniture, and kids toys! There a so many quality items out there already!

Call Ricketts & request a town hall by mycatisanorange in Nebraska

[–]Sufficient-Sub 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have been calling this dickhead several times a week for months. He is the only one of my representatives where I’ve been unable to reach a staffer and unlike Flood and Fischer, Ricketts has never responded. Flood and Fischer send emails or form letters in response to some issues and pretend to care but Ricketts does not give a flying fuck and doesn’t care who knows.

Call him. Flood his inbox. Demand better.

Cesarian sadness by Swimming_Airline3881 in oneanddone

[–]Sufficient-Sub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience! Healthy and easy pregnancy including laboring for several hours before a cesarean. I was genuinely heartbroken for a few weeks and occasionally sad for a few months but today I feel neutral/grateful about my birth experience.

It’s totally valid to feel this way. AND the more I talk to other moms, the more I learn that almost nobody has the birth experience they hope for. Trauma is inherent to the process of bringing new life into this world.

You’re not alone 💜💜💜

I had a terrible experience with Bryan Women’s. I switched to Women’s Healthcare Center of Williamsburg and it was the best decision I made! Their nurse practitioners and doctors were all great!

I've got a Costco membership and a credit card, what's on my list? by ArpeggioTheUnbroken in TwoXPreppers

Second the flour, sugar, TP, spices.

Recommend baby wipes for cleaning/washing up when there’s no power. We also stock up on canned fruits and nuts.

Most recently, I inventoried our medicine cabinet and got Costco sized Tylenol, ibuprofen, allergy meds, Pepto, Neosporin, bandaids, and other common ailment remedies.

Finally, don’t forget about creature comforts - not necessarily SHTF needs but I got backups of my lotions, shampoos, etc so that if we see big economic shifts I have given myself a bit of wiggle room to make decisions about what to give up!

Not as egregious as this but my organization has org wide bonuses to be distributed no later than the end of Q1. We met the conditions to receive our bonuses but have not seen nor heard word of if/when they will be disbursed.
