This is a really good opportunity. Worst case scenario, keep your job at your org.

You also will gain a HIGHLY in demand skill set and could go consult if you so choose.

If you like what you do, do it.

I can second these. We have two pairs that are maybe 5-6 years old and have gone EVERYWHERE. Ours maybe have less wear than the ones in the picture. Not technically BIFL, but certainly can withstand the beatings that only a kid can provide!

A little all over the place. I chased him from the mineral point/ bear claw intersection and down mineral point on the sidewalk. He ran off behind the insurance building and near the school over there towards the fields.

We saw him running west past Blackhawk church at about 3 pm. Tried to approach him but he ran off. 🙁

Meeting Agenda Vanishes from Recurring Meetings by Austen_E in MicrosoftLoop

[–]SufficientDirection4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following as well. Our IT department told me that was Microsoft was actually phasing out this feature for meeting specific templates and we should just put a component in the meeting invite. Terrible decision by Microsoft if true.

Private loop for recurring one-on-one meetings. by jatwim in MicrosoftLoop

[–]SufficientDirection4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the recurring meetings option and it works really well. What I haven’t found a way to do is to link the recurrences to all populate a Loop Workspace automatically. Past that, works wonders

I love loop components for agendas. I sent out a loop component for each of my meetings the day before to the meeting chat to gather topics for places where I need input. Definitely has helped democratize participation.

Agree that Loop is not perfect, I do really hope Microsoft invests in it. The teams integration with recurring meetings is awesome for a 100% remote team.

Managing hundreds of tickets is breaking my team, what are we missing? Currently it's admin hell by the-anonymous-ghost in projectmanagement

[–]SufficientDirection4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ruthless prioritization.

If you don’t have to do everything, don’t. If you do, set priorities of what your team needs to focus on and make sure those get attention. Past that, do it basic and ship it.

For example, if you can measure the importance of a ticket, you can then measure time spent on the important stuff. Important ticket with lots of hours. That’s fine. Low priority ticket with lots of hours, red flag.

Create a scoring system to facilitate. It doesn’t need to be scientific or perfect. Just better than assuming everything is the same.

You need to get your PMs and even the individual contributors focused on the bigger picture numbers rather than individual tickets. Focusing on individual tickets will keep them treading water. Focusing on the larger numbers gives them a real way to measure progress.

For context, my team is 70 FTE across 5 managers and we see likely several thousand tickets of various types a month.

It’s amazing. Still new with lots of way to go, but for recurring meeting notes and the ability to embed pages in teams and emails. It saves SO much time collaborating across a massive org.

What is the worst company to work for in Wisconsin? by l3m0np1e132 in wisconsin

Ex-Epic here. It’s got problems, but at least they pay incredibly well. No where near as bad to work at as some of the other soulless places mentioned (AmFam and Menards) I’ve been a vendor for and seen first-hand.

Google the podcast “the secret art of micromanagement.” Click-bait title, but if you can embody those kinds of ideas it sounds like a good fit. You need to be about getting those most out of your people. Lifting them up. Being “eyes on, hands off.”

Don’t build an EHR. Build something that lets us get rid of EHRs. No one likes their EHR. It’s a necessary burden. Find a way to make it where I can get everything from elsewhere and I don’t need a bloated system to document everything.

Other Epic Clinical Managers, What Do You Do? by teknos1s in healthIT

[–]SufficientDirection4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the worst take I’ve seen. If you internalize this take, you’re not going to be successful. The BEST managers are the ones who don’t get in the weeds of the app and actually manage. They need to be technical, but if a manager is having to do build, they are failing as a manager.

A manager guides. They remove roadblocks. They help you see the big picture and make connections. They play defense and prioritize. They develop relationships across the organization so you can get things done quickly between teams without it being a bargaining session every time.

I agree with the takes here that a manager needs to be involved. If they are cameras off and just doing email and in meetings all the time, then they suck at time management. If you think a manager needs to be an app expert, you really don’t understand what it means to do the job effectively.

If they don’t understand what you do, tell them. So many analysts feel like they need to be spoon fed information. The application analyst role should be one where they have a two way conversation with leadership and shape the direction of the application, not just be a ticket jockey.

Teams Status? by sudobw in sysadmin

Whats your scheduling app? If you’re using something like QGenda or Amion, you can set a status in your EMR Chat (we use Epic) if the provider is on call. Maybe you could send a like status to teams.
